Howdy.
A few days ago, I purchased a new '23 Ram 3500 with the 6.4 Hemi. I am planning to do a first oil change at 1K miles (still a ways out). The thing is, I have 8 quarts of the Schaeffer's Supreme 9000 0W40 oil left from when I sold my 2014 Ram 3500 with the 6.4. The Schaeffer's meets the older MS-12633 spec required by the 2014, but not the new MS-A0921 spec required since 2022. The second oil change @ 5K miles will be done with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum SRT oil with the proper MS-A0921 spec. Is there any reason I should NOT use the Schaeffer's just once?
Schaeffer's is an excellent oil, and I wouldn't be surprised if it meets the new spec already, but just hasn't been certified that way. Thoughts?
