So I’ve had my truck for almost a year, bought it brand new as a leftover 2022. Not sure why I thought of it but I just realized it absolutely does not have the traction control button. Anybody else notice this? I searched and couldn’t find anything regarding it not being there. Before I contact the dealer I wanted to see if anybody else is missing theirs. Mine is an 8.4 non nav truck.

Could just be the "robots" do it. Put it in 4 wheel drive, both high and low ranges and see if you get the indicator light.

Do you have heated seats and steering wheel? Just a guess here, but I bet the previous owner replaced the 5” radio with the 8.4” and got the wrong bezel. That was one of the hardest parts when I did mine…finding the bezel with the correct options. The bezel shown is out of a gas model, their traction control button is where your exhaust brake is. For the diesel, the hazard light button should be split and one side is hazard lights the other side is traction control.

I looked at a ton of different part numbers and none really have a description of what options they have…I finally ended up with one that was almost right…except it has a lane departure button and my truck doesn’t have that option. Everything else is correct though.

I bought the truck brand new. I installed heated seats and wheel and auto climate control myself. The bezel is original except for the middle climate control section with the heated seats and wheel button. So my truck definitely came without the traction control button.

Edit, on second thought maybe the hazard button was part of that climate control cluster. I’ll have to take a look at that when I get home. Might be my own bonehead move here.

If you added the heated seats and steering wheel and auto climate control, you had to replace the center bezel. The one you ended up with is for a gas version. If you still have your original somewhere, I guarantee that where the single hazard light button is there will be a split button with hazards and traction control.

yep I believe your right, I’m going to check for sure when I get home. I didn’t even notice that. What a bonehead

It’s tough! None of the parts descriptions are very specific. If you’re ordering through a dealership they want your VIN…which of course doesn’t have the options you are adding. Best way is to search inventory online to find one that does have the options and give them that VIN…but then little things like knowing that hazard button is different gas/diesel get missed. I didn’t notice until I was researching the swap to the 8.4 and someone in a forum mentioned it.

Its interesting they the traction control button is in different places. On my 2020 its just above my auxillary switches. My 2020 Ram 2500 Interior HVAC Controls.jpg

Quick search just to show the difference…options are different, one is nav one is not, but…

Gas trucks get the traction control button on the lower switch bank (just above the aux switches).
Diesel trucks get the traction control button next to the hazard switch below the screen on 5”/8.4” radios, or above the screen next to the hazard switch on 12” radios.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I believe the bezel I took the climate controls from had the toggle switches on the bottom because it didn’t have the aux switches. So I bet that’s where the traction control switch is.

That being said I may just leave it alone. I’ve had the truck for almost year and went through a winter without noticing I didn’t have the button. Plus if I need to get out of something I’ll put it in 4 low and it will turn off on its own

Aux switches are irrelevant. You took the climate controls from a bezel that belongs to a hemi equipped HD Ram, or a 1500 Ram.

I just meant that since clearly the traction control button wasn’t next to the hazard button it must be one of the toggles on the bottom section. I was just noticing that trucks without aux switches have toggles.

You may wish you had the option to turn it off when you need it most! I have needed some wheel speed to get in and out of snowy slick situations. With TC on, the truck would barely move.

Yeah I was thinking about that yesterday. I do a fair amount of ice fishing. Last year’s winter was bad for that so I only got out once. I think I’ll look for the correct climate controls so I have the button where it’s supposed to be.

Good call. That is one of the exact situations where I have needed it!
