I’m on my 4th Ram since 1989. Oil and other lubricant changes used to be easy. It looks like synth is the new norm and the source of debate.

New Ram 2500 Hemi here. Planning on moderate travel trailer towing all over the country in retirement. Looking forward to reading about other’s experiences on regular maintenance and results.

Thanks for the forum

I didn't see an oil thread sticky in the Hemi forum so I found the biggest/newest one and stuck it.

I thought you were using the Donaldson blue oil filter?

:)
Can’t ever get my International or Freightliner dealers to order them in. They will only sell by the case. This is my last 16035 (I had three sitting on the shelf). I’ll run this one, and get a couple DBL’s ordered for the next service intervals. Itll be interesting to see if there’s any appreciable change on the UOA.

Thank you. I'll go browse that.

Yep, plenty of threads about what oil people use in their Hemi. And it runs the gamut of brands.
So pick the one you trust and don't worry about it.
I've been using Castrol for decades so continued using it in my Hemi. But I did switch to their synthetic for the Hemi.

I've been a member of BMW motorcycle forums for years. Those forums are full of guys that do their own service, vigorously "debate" over lubricants, and are even fixated on what the proper technique is for any manner of things ranging from setting valve lash, to deploying their kickstand. :) (it's a "sidestand" not a kick stand)

I'll probably stick with what Mopar recommends as many in the oil thread are doing. At least for the warranty period. I wasn't aware of the "hemi tick" phenomenon but glad I learned about it.

I'm a noob to the forum, and do appreciate the debates. I learn much from it.

PS, I'm a crusty old Blue Nose. (several times over) But never made it over equator.
