2024 Power Wagon Payload Numbers

The way mine is equipped it has a 17,730 towing capacity and a 4,000 payload capacity. Originally stated as cargo box capacity, my error.

The PW has a GVWR of 8,565lbs, so you’re saying your truck only weighs 4,565lbs empty?

Tried your link and got:
{"data":{"status":"failure","status_code":"ERR_109","status_desc":"VIN is not valid. It should be 17 character length of alphanumeric value."}}
It came back as the data for a Rebel Crew Cab and not a Power Wagon...

Straight from the 2024 PW specs:

Gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) (lbs.)
8,565
Payload (lbs.)
3,140
Towing capacity (lbs.)
14,760( Disclosure1)
Gross combined weight rating (GCWR) (lbs.)
18,000
5th-wheel towing capacity (lbs.)
14,590

Here's one straight up - 1479 max payload.

It says Rebel Crew Cab and not Power Wagon, I don’t think they are one and the same...

It came back as the data for a Rebel Crew Cab and not a Power Wagon...

This is discussed earlier in the thread.

The Rebel starts out as a PW with some "deletes."

That's not a true PW which is what they're talking about in this thread.

Here's one for a 2024 Rebel, still only 3,037 lbs max payload.

You can't use marketing max numbers for an equipped/optioned truck.

You don’t happen to find one that is for the Power Wagon with 4.10 axle and 6.4 Hemi?

I hope RAM has a link that will get all the information correct and you, or somebody, can get it to work, I would really like to see the apples to apples data for my truck.
When I did the link with VIN the axle ratio and engine were correct, but model was for Rebel and not Power Wagon. Go figure… the dealer stated the numbers that I had posted from the RAM website, but I certainly don’t take that as gospel.
At least my Uconnect system is now working after the shark fin antenna was replaced.

What is:
mpi max towing and
hpims max towing?

BTW I found the VIN link https://www.stellantisfleet.com/ramtrucks/towing-guide.htmlSelect and got the same results as the link stated before, but had even different numbers come up, as well as the wrong Model, when I used the Build and Price the max towing came up as 17,540.

That's an old 2022 site. They didn't offer the 2500 Rebel (neutered PW) in 2022.

Build and Price gives the max marketing numbers, nit specific to the optioned model.

Here's a 4.10 axle Hemi Rebel.

All you have to do is search inventory and find one similarly equipped to get the info. Your door sticker will have the factory payload on a tag. That's the final say.

The info we're giving you to use the links, or looking at a door sticker on a truck is the only near truth/truth. All that other stuff is marketing hype.

Thanks for all the information, but I am still not sure what my truck is supposed to be able to haul. It seems that a roulette wheel was being used for the information coming off the Web, I wonder what person punched in what numbers on the various towing weight ratings on the sites. Mine being a 2024 seems to be a significant difference in RAM marketing and third party data on towing. Looking at sites such as Gearjunkie, Motorbisket, Motortrend and a few others, that came from a search on the internet, all with different opinions. So far I have not gotten a single web site (RAM site or third party or RAM marketing) that match completely.

The results I got from the --

And here is what I got from the link that Brutal_HO provided:

Since I haul my water trailer fully loaded with a weight rating of 10,150 I have just enough capacity, if I take the lowest towing number found, but not by much. I have hauled this load many times already and my truck didn’t even seem to know the load was being pulled. I hope the larger towing numbers (like the one that the dealer stated when buying the truck) are somewhat accurate, I like to have a safety margin.

Here's your data in a table using the link I provided.

Payload 1472 should exactly match what's on your door frame sticker.

Can't say what the different max towing items are but would guess published, optioned bumper vs 5th wheel?

RAWR is 6200 and that's all anyone really cares about.

Thanks Brutal_HO

I posted this on another thread that was about towing:

I just got off the phone with MoPar via Oswald and he was able to confirm three towing capacities for the engine/transmission/model:

10,580 :) this is the one that he could confirm for my build and comes real close to what you had found thanks
10,520 AND
17,540 - see below for an explanation of how RAM could use this number

He was also able to confirm the highest rating was due to special gearing and RAM does a calculated (via engineering) tow capacity numbers. This is why they can state in their web sites the high numbers for marketing purposes and not be sued for false advertising.

I well imagine all manufactures use the same techniques. And since I had a “TOW pig” before and wanted to get off road more, I chose the RAM Power Wagon. It is fitting the bill, I did not want to buy one truck for off road and one for towing. I found a truck can do both! My RAM tows the water trailer so well it seems to work less than my old Ford F450 dually with turbo diesel, at least by the seat of my pants feeling. Now that is a sales pitch for RAM. In any case the side by sides still can fit on more trails than the RAM, but I like my RAM better for a lot of reasons. The “Arizona Pin-stripping” was not one of the reasons. The Creosote bush and native Palo Verde can do a lot of scratching on the finish. You have to be careful and pick your trail carefully or spend a lot of time with the buffing wheel and compounds. I do like to go off roading considering of the 2K put on the odometer in the first month and almost 1/2 of the mileage is off road and about 1/4 was really off road and I havn’t needed to use the locking posi-traction, the hill assist, or the disconnect on the front stabilizer bar.

THANKS, but I wish the dealer saleman knew as much as I got from off the forum and from MoPar. It could of been fate because I don’t know if I would of bought the Power Wagon if I had known the towing capacity was so close to what I needed to tow. So in the long run I’m glad the salesmen and saleswomen were not well advised, I got a nice truck out of it and Oswald from MoPar said the load I am hauling will not hurt anything being just under the maximum towing number. I cannot believe I actually trusted a car saleman, my bad.
