8.4non-nav UC4 to 12 inch UC5 Upgrade - Where to find the square inserts to mount the stereo?

Hi guys. I want to upgrade from the 8.4 non nav system in my 2020 3500 Laramie to a 2022 Laramie 3500 12 inch screen. I picked up all the parts listed on the Uconnect 5 upgrade thread and Jimmy was nice enough to make up adapter cables needed.

I went to swap everything out and after tearing the old unit out I'm stuck. I see where the stereo piece is suppose to mount but the holes are square and look like they need some sort of insert installed in order to mount the stereo.

I don't know what they are called or what the part number would be. Are they square nylon inserts that would use sort of a sheet metal type screw? or are they metal and use regular metric threaded screws?

any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

You just need license plate screw inserts. That's literally all they are - If you go to a mopar dealer you can get the metal ones (i think they're usually for a jeep), but I just used plastic ones from the auto parts store and they've held up just fine.

NP, also if you didn't get the mopar screws to attach the screen to the bezel - they're standard machine screws. I can't remember if they're M4 or M5, but I just dug some out of my assortment boxes when I did mine. Also if you hate rattles go ahead and use tessa tape to pad all the interfaces where you're assembling the parts. My truck had started to rattle after a while post swap - I took it all back apart to put tessa tape between the screen/bezel, where all the clips go, and anywhere plastic was rubbing on plastic.

I think they were m5. I drove by McMaster Carr and picked some up

the screen, the brain, the surround, and a wire harness kit. you'll need the OBD stuff so that you can program BCM. There's another thread on it which lists the part numbers.
