Noticed on the RAM site the 6.4 isn't available on higher trims.

Anyone know why? Ford and GM still have their gassers all the way to the top trims.

Ram site is crap you can get it no problem from my understanding just not through the crappy build and price system

Well you can't get a Hemi in the Limited and Longhorn for a few (2?) years now. They may have rolled that back into the Laramie, who knows. Could be a site issue as you say, parts shortage, or change.

Final say is the dealer order system.

It is not only the higher trim levels. You can no longer get the 6.4 Hemi in a MegaCab. Have to wonder what Ram is thinking. Chip and part shortages have to be long over by now. Does not make any sense. I don't see what they save cost wise as all trims are built on the same line. Just pushing the higher cost Cummins. For me that just makes no sense in a 2500 as eats up the payload number. Absolutely love the big Hemi for towing my 30' 9000 pound travel trailer. Never have I lacked for power in the mountains. Just my opinion but it sure seems that Stellantis is trying to kill CJDR, with the possible exception of Jeep. It is obvious they don't understand the American market.

I’ve said it multiple times- Stellantis is turning cdjr into another euro trash company….They have created cookie cutter packages, killed standalone options that actually American buyers want. Not sure what they are thinking. No more v8 cars, everything forced induction with a bunch of standard Safety features. Not buying an Audi or fiat ….Only thing that keeps my loyal is the Cummins and hating the complexity of the power stroke otherwise I’d be a ford boy.

Could be that they're simply tightening the belt toward the end of the 2024 models to ensure whatever stock goes out does so with what they perceive to be more desirable. They know not every order will be purchased once built so maybe they're just trying to ensure they control what may or may not end up as the "leftover" 24s as the 25s start rolling out.

Doubtful since the 2023s had the same issues, it was my understanding the dealers could order them but from what Brutal has stated that may have been wrong.

Yeah, I recall hearing the same statements in 2022, but then saw upper trim 2023s show up with Hemis. Then it was a thing again in 2023, and then we saw upper trim 2024s with Hemis. Based on history, I'm assuming we will again see upper trim 2025s with Hemis show up in a few months.

One way to get a Hemi with most if not all of the upper-level options is to get a 2500 Rebel with the Hemi. The Level 1 package is basically a Laramie interior, and a Level 2 is basically a Limited interior.

It’s pretty simple.

They’re in the business of selling new trucks in a time when parts and supplies are at a bare minimum of supply and a premium of price. They looked at their production numbers for all their trims, configurations, etc. and cut the fat off. If it wasn’t a very popular configuration it got cut. Was it the right move?….well that depends on the point of view. If you’re someone who wanted a Hemi Longhorn, you’re out of luck. But if you’re a shareholder, you don’t care about selling one particular configuration of truck to a very limited window of buyers. Stellantis is hedging their bets that you’ll still buy a truck, even if it is isn’t in the configuration you’re specifically looking for, and in the grand scheme of things….they're right…the average buyer will.

Maybe in the 2500, but there were no Hemi options available for 3500 Limited and Longhorn in 2023-2024. The dealers here were specific on the reason; "Less than 5% take rate on those configurations so it was dropped."

Love an old gas V8 but the hemi doesn’t make a lot of sense with awful fuel economy, lifter issues and broken manifolds till the cows come home. I’d take a Cummins all day

It makes one wonder how long they'll continue to build it. With the 5.7 gone along the 6.2/6/4 (Hellcat/Scat Pack engines) is it worthwhile to continue with the truck 6.4?

Ford's 7.3 is so dramatically better in HD trucks RAM and GM really don't need to bother. I've read a number of diesel guys are buying the 7.3 gassers now because of all the diesel emissions issues (I'm one of them with my '22 repeatedly back at the dealer).

I too am thinking about a 7.3 even though it's a Ford..

Early 7.3 had some issues with coils and such but seems to be fixed...probably china virus coils....I have a 22 Tiffin Gas Class A with the 7.3 and tow a Jeep Wrangler. I've taken it on 2 trips from west coast to Alabama and FL. Its really an excellent engine. In a 30k lb wind sock, it gets 8-9MPG depending on wind and hills. My father in laws 2015 6.7 feightliner chassis gets like 9-10mpg. I'm a huge fan of the 7.3 ford. I've heard that is gets kinda poo poo mpg in the trucks but that might be driver issues.

There were rumors the Ram was going to replace the 6.4 Hemi with the 6.7 Cummins gas engine. I sure hope they don't do that. Not only is it much heavier, it's also only rated at 240 HP and 560 ft/lbs. Yeah, the torque is nice, but that horsepower is lacking.

I too considered a 7.3 Ford, but they are too proud and unwilling to negotiate a deal. I ended up with a 6.4 Laramie for $15K less than their 7.3 XLT

I paid less for my 2020 Longhorn 6.4 than they wanted for a 7.3 XLT.

Ever driven on old Ford 300-6? Absolutely amazing for towing. Drove like a total slug without but was stellar when you put weight on it.
