CAUGHT: 2025 Ram 2500 Rebel Crew Cab 4×4

Ram's Heavy Duty Pickup Lineup Due For An Update Later This Year...

Image 108.jpeg

2025 is turning out to be an important year for the Ram brand. With the launch of an updated Ram 1500, a new high-performance off-roader with the RHO, and two new electrified pickup trucks, along with the introduction of the Ram REV and Ramcharger, you might think that Ram would have its hands full. However, that isn’t stopping the automaker from updating its Heavy Duty pickup lineup either.

While not a complete overhaul, the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty is scheduled to get a modest update at the end of this year. And thanks to these latest images of spy photos, we can finally get an idea of how drastic these new changes are.

Seems like more and more news is coming out.

The front ends of those new 1500s are pretty ugly- remind me of a GM. Hopefully the HDs are not the same. The 2500 taillights from 24 to 25 1500s look very similar so I don’t think we will see much.

Hopefully we get more photos uncovered soon.

Euro styling, looks like a mini van.

The 1500 front bumpers kill me. They look comically large on everything but the rebel/rho, especially the chrome versions.

I'm curious what they will look like, but from the looks of things, we are gonna get the "slim" headlights as well.

Gotta say, I like the 4.5 gen, but the 4th gen is still my favorite exterior I think. If I had all the money, I'd prob go buy a new 3500 CCLB DRW, take it to the shop, remove the hydraulic lifters and replace with solid, then remove the front end and swap it back with a 4th gen front end. All the interior benefits of the upgrades with the looks of the 4th. I guess I'd have to swap doors from a early 4.5 as well to get the old style moose mirrors as well.

My favorite body styles are the 2nd and 5th Gens but I'm biased.

I really hope that hood scoop is functional...I hate fake hood scoops just seems cheesy to me.

Here is a YouTube short I found

Looks
Like maybe the rear bumper will have cut outs for steps like the GMs too. Not sure how much I like that- the steps would be welcomed since the beds are so high but wood boots/sun will destroy the plastic. I guess it’s not a bad thing.

Looks like the Radar was moved in to the bumper, and the camera is new. @Jimmy07, should be a fun exercise!

A mild facelift. Very mild. I'm betting nothing much will change as far as suspension or frame. Or much with the interior. Just a new front end, some different body lines and an 8 speed for the diesel.

After some recent intel, I wouldn't count on the 8-speed for 2025.

Sounds like it doesn’t run right with it…. o_O;)

Or they didn’t get their carb/epa clearances in time for MY2025.

Kinda stupid to even do the redesign with nothing more than a grill/bumper, tails and a stupid bigger screen that nobody actually needs. You would expect some performance upgrades but that’s what you get from a euro company, all fluff no substance…

I guess their truck designers are seriously lacking in ideas or the company is to too cheap to do a complete redesign on Hd's . Until they do I am keeping my 2020 !

They’re in for a rough year if no major changes are done, especially the transmission.

Agreed - ive been holding out waiting for a significant redesign. My father in law just bought a new '24 King Ranch and has be seriously considering a ford. They have upped their game a lot and has some small creature comforts I would love. (HUD, looks like a better camera system, 10 speed tranny, larger cab, power extending mirrors, telescoping steering wheel etc)

Given that ford diesels are the only one still using the problematic CP4 fuel pump that both RAM an GM have abandoned for reliability problems. The record number of recalls, and the general ford philosphy where quality is job none. I can't justify spending so much money on a ford, even if they have a few better features. Now if ford was significantly cheaper, then it would be competitive. For the record I do own a Ford F-450 and a Ram 3500. I'm not a truck person but Ford for all of its reliability issues is too expensive at their current selling prices

I'll also say that RAM hasn't updated the truck in any meaningful way since 2019, and older. They too are really milking an old design, but if you can get one cheaper I would pick it. Personally I can't see any compelling reason to replace my 2019 Ram 3500 with a 2025, yet. Given how expensive these tools are they just aren't offering a compelling selling proposition. Personally I'd like to see the ZF but again going from a 6-spd AISIN to an 8-SPD ZF isn't enough to make me want to trade my nearly paid for 40K truck (probable trade in) and take on another 50K in sales tax and debt for a face lift and 8 spd.

Don't forget the hood scoop and mirrors ! I agree unless you own one and pay attention to minor exterior details ,13 to current all look similar .

Yeah, really not anything in this facelift to get excited about. The new GEN 4.5LCI (lifecycle refresh) has new headlights, Bigger Grill, higher hood, new tail lights. I'm glad stalantis ok'd the styling department budget. Would like some actual engineering improvements, not more big rig look tack ons. But then again I'm a car enthusiasts, so I like substance over style, and these face lifts while appealing, would be more appealing if they had a 500hp/1200lbft Cummins underneath. But I'm thinking we're going to one engine 420-430hp and 1000lbft. Just be on top of GM. Ram is checking out of the truck wars for now.

If I was a betting man (I'm not), I would say there is nothing new coming for MY 2025 for the Ram 2500/3500; no 8 speed, and no engine updates. I'm happy with my 6.7L Cummins SO and 6 speed. I hear lot's of people say that you should not drive an HD if you want fuel economy. I would always want an efficient powertrain and I think efficiency is more important the bigger/more capable the vehicle! So, give me better efficiency and reliability and a bit more power (why not?)...

Yeah, the machine is a tool and there will be compromises. But that dosen't mean the truck needs to be a needless guzzler.

Since this is a facelift, and RAM can play with the options.. I'd like to be able to get a Mega Cab again without having to get a larmie trim or higher. I have a big horn with cloth and a Megacab. Also like to see a gasoline engine option with the mega cab if you want a truck camper.

Me, I'd like better visibility out of the truck, a lower hood especially; as off roading is very tricky without a spotter in this truck.. Larger side windows too (same vein of visibility is poor outside the truck), maybe with a side windows cut out like ford has to improve visibility. The passenger mirror in my 2019 isn't that good, never found a great aim for it. I'd also like a lower bed height, its a pain to get in and out of the bed to grab tools lower would be better. A flat floor in the cab. A bigger stock fuel tank on the short beds. These are some real usability / quality of life things. Oh a hood that doesn't flutter, better brakes, some auto leveling head lights (I have the halogen), A wish list of things not to come I suppose.

I actually don't mind that the RAM HD is still using the same cabs.

I am pretty excited about the ZF8, I sure hope that happens.

I replaced my 5th Gen TRX with my new 4.5 gen 2500 LTD last month and also still have my 2015 2500 Laramie.

I really prefer the seating position in my 4th gen HD cabs to that of the 5th Gen 1500 cabs.
I think the visibility is better too, likely do to that better seating position in the older HD cabs.

I also have a 23 2500 Duramax Denali and it is seating position is comfortable but the visibility terrible. The Duramax hood is so tall and long its really hard to over the hood in the later model GM trucks, light duty and HDs are even worse. Visabilty out of that Denali cab is terrible, thank god it has a front camera.

Of all the HD trucks I currently own and have owned, the 4th gen RAM Cab is the most comfortable to me and offers the best visibility too.
So unless they can improve on the functional things that matter, I almost prefer they don't mess the cabs. All the other brands seem to get worse on the functional and comfort side every time they do a redesign.

Did I miss something? I thought 8 speed and a single Cummins variant was a confirmed change for 2025 but now I see doubt. Where did the doubt come from?
