Hey not sure if the is the right section but whatever. Couple months ago I picked up a brand new 2019 3500 Night Edition Laramie Cummins 12” screen. All in all I love the truck. BUT. The signal on the satellite radio is absolute garbage. Cut in and out and the signal completely drops off for a bit to the point I don’t even bother using it anymore. I had a 2012 and there was only one street in this town that would block the signal and it rarely dropped on the highway unless I was driving right along some bluffs or through canyons. I’m just curious if anyone knows if this is just the way it is now because of the new antenna integration or is this something I should be talking to the dealer about?

Mine is similar to yours, lots of cutout. I had a 2019 Ram 1500 that would only cutout in a couple places but the 2500 is in a different league of dropped signal. I also have it searching and black screen with a rotating circle alot even thou I'm in a large Walmart parking lot like it is getting an update but nothing changes with the radio.

I think the experience you had with your 2012 is what it should be like. That is also my experience. Unless you have something solid between you and the satellite you should get signal. Looks like something is wrong with your 2019.

Really? I feel like my 19 is better than my 15 was. There is a particular point in my daily drive to work where it cuts off, and it is a much shorter amount of time in my new one

Hi, I'm sorry to hear this. Please let me know if you plan on visiting a dealership for this concern. I would be happy to open a case for you.

Mine does the same thing. When it loses signal for about 30 seconds it offers to switch to cell service which works great. The problem is it has to be at least 30 seconds of interruption to switch to cell service. The interruption can be a whole bunch of small interruptions in a row, but it won't switch to cell.

It should switch to cell service when there are multiple small interruptions.

ya i hear you, mine has only prompted to switch to cell the one time only, wish you could change the settings for that.

I know this post is a few months old, but as the leaves grow here in the northeast, my signal just drops more and more. My old F250 only dropped in one spot. My Ram 2500 BigHorn 12 inch screen drops so much it's almost unusable. I wish they could at least increase the buffer somehow.

They won't. This is to keep switching channels feel almost instantaneous. Otherwise, you would have to wait for the buffer to fill each time you change to a new channel which would be annoying.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, the way it is makes it useless this time of year. It cuts out a half dozen times in 5 minutes drive even on highway, but lots of trees around in NH. I don't know why the F250 was better.

Yeah, not sure why you get so much cuts. I drove 45 mins on secondary roads today with lots of trees. No cuts.

I'm in New Hampshire as well, and the Sirius/XM reception in this vehicle is the worst of any i've ever had. it cuts in and out constantly on drives where it's just fine in my wife's car (GMC), my mother in law's car (VW) and my friend's truck (2019 RAM 1500 limited). I haven't been overly wound up about it because I use spotify on my phone a lot, but if i had been planning on paying for sirius/xm and depending on it after the free trial, I'd be mighty pissed right now.

I have to agree. This is the worst reception of any vehicle I have ever owned (and that includes two previous Rams) I swear sometimes shadows cut the signal out. I have a buddy who just bought a 2020 2500, and his never cuts out. I hope it's something they fix on mine.

I've never had a sat radio before but mine cuts out here in the Denver burbs and high plains where there are few and far between. I don't use XM much so it hasn't been a pain point.

I have to agree that the sat radio in my 2020 is the worst I have had. This is my 5th vehicle with SiriusXM and the signal drops out passing under every tree limb. I've had (have) 3 Jeep Grand Cherokees and a '15 Chevy 3500 diesel dually and none of them dropped the sat radio signal coming down the same road. This one drops out so much you would think it stutters.

Reception on my truck sucks.
I was on the fence about paying for service but definitely not going to happen with this reception quality.
Had it on my last truck I dont miss it.

When I am totally bored and have absolutely nothing else to do, I'll probably complain about it and let them run whatever test they can to check the receiver sensitivity and sat antenna. I can live with it like it is but it just not quite right based on the other vehicles I've had with sat radio.

Went for a 200 miles ride today. Not a single hickup. Then later this evening, had like 5 lost of signal within 2 minutes from home...
It was the first time it failed for no reason. No idea whats going on with this XM problem.

so... not to be that guy, but living about 20 miles north of @brutal, mine works just fine. the only time that it hiccups is when I pull into my garage, and some of the really deep canyons that we drive through ( 72 / 6 / 285). I use it all the time, and will probably be purchasing a subscription when my 1 year trial runs out. if mine works and his doesn't, maybe a hardware or software issue??
