Curious if anyone else has experienced the following, and what the solution wound up being: 2022 3500 Laramie is making a creaking noise when turning the steering wheel. Truck has 1300 miles on it, just started experiencing the issue. I've searched if anyone else has a similar problem, and while I've seen a few folks mention it, I didn't find a much else. Someone mentioned it being related to an improperly routed wiring harness, coming from the factory that way. I'm definitely gonna get it taken care of, I'm just hoping to get some insight here. Thanks.

I have the same problem. I noticed it doesn't do it all the time though, just on a fresh start which makes no sense to me. I haven't looked into it but it is starting to get to me.

I too am experiencing this on my 21 3500. Will have it checked out during the next oil change probably in the spring time.

Same issue - didn't notice it initially. Truck is going in for its first service next week and going to see if the hey can address it.

If they address and correct the issue, if you wouldn’t mind sharing the results, that would be greatly appreciated!

So two days before the service was to be done, it stopped making the noise and hasn't done it since.......

Service manager had not heard of this before aw well.....

Hi, new member here. I joined for this reason. I have a faint clicking/knocking in steering wheel. It’s a 22 3500. I too decided to wait for first service. They were able to hear my concern but couldn’t identify or fix it. They said they removed steering wheel and couldn’t find anything. When I picked it back up it actually had gone away for about a week…now it’s back again.

I would love to hear if someone found a fix for it, I really don’t want to keep taking my new truck back and forth to dealer.

Thanks!

It's probably going to be the clock spring which I believe is located in steering column behind the airbag. I had this issue with my 2020 Ram 2500. It's a common issue and the dealer replaced it and it never came back. I'm sure if you search "clock spring" you'll see it's a common problem. Hope this helps.

I have the same thing on my 2022 limited with 9k miles. I’ll hopefully get it to the dealer in the next couple weeks. It’s getting louder.

Same 22 3500 Laramie, exact same issue came up around 4K mile, planning to schedule a dealer appointment to address, if this due to a clock spring failure, supposed to cover by warranty, right?

mine is not so much a creaking, but it sounds like plastic on plastic contact when the wheel is turned. im pretty sure its the back of the wheel assembly on the plastic housing that covers the steering and shift linkage

they say it’s the clock spring. i have had it replaced twice and it’s still making noise. highly annoying

Any one here with the steering creak noise get a satisfactory resolution? My new 2500 bighorn started making the nose at. 2500km. Seems like clock spring or column. Slower I go the worse it is . If I’m stopped and i turn the wheel it’s really bad. On the highway I don’t have the issue. Maybe because the steering inputs are much less at speed.

I have a 2022 RAM 3500 HO (7k miles) with all of the same issues. Clock spring replaced, still noise, ordered a new steering column and now another special ordered part that I forgot what it is called. I hope to have my truck back in a couple of days with an update.

Other issues if anyone has any opinions.

Steering drag link loose
Recall 13A relay
Front passenger seat track and alignment issues

Main issue is trans lag/loss of power. Cant seem to find gears and bogs down. Like if you take off from a stop in 2nd/3rd gear with manual trans vehicle. Somewhat limp mode at times... Tows good in tow haul mode...

Hope to hear from all...

Just noticed this on my 24 today at 800 miles. From messing around with my head in the floorboard and an LED shinning up, I think the noise is coming from the framing of the plastic shroud around the column. I was able to duplicate the sound a bit by pushing on the inside of it in certain areas. Couldn't for the life of me figure out how to fix it. If I held/pushed it in just the right spot, I could turn the wheel with my other hand without noise. Pushing forward and in.... up behind where the column shifter is, completely removed the noise.

I just can't think of any way to duplicate that pressure in that spot. After 45minutes of idle time turning the wheel back and fourth, I gave up. And I could be wrong but I dunno. I searched all over here and it doesn't seem like anyone got an actual fix. Sounds like a creaky leather seat. Super high humidity and fog today but otherwise weather is normal, 70F.
