Ordered my 2023 RAM 2500 - 6.4L LARAMIE MEGA CAB 4X4 -2500 on 10/7/22, received an email on 10/12/23 indicating my truck is now in transit to the dealer.

Dealer cannot explain the delay so I'm hoping someone in this group can shed some light as to what happened. I suspect it was damaged at the upfitter in Mexico and/or perhaps parts were on back order? It appears as though some '24's have already been delivered to customers. So what gives...?? Appreciate any additional info.

Last 8 of my VIN: PG513567

Have you been tracking your build all along and know where in the process it got hung up or have you ask your dealer why it took so long? Other then speculate I don’t think anyone on here is going to know for sure.

Order progression:

C - 10/7
D1 - 12/19
E - 1/27
JB - 1/30
JBLD - 2/3
JB - 2/8
KZ - 2/27
KZLD – ??
KZM – 10/9
KZX - TBD

I know the truck was at the up fitter in Mexico for a spray-in bed liner, side steps, and tonneau cover. Perhaps it was just lost in the shuffle? I suspect it was damaged at the upfitter and they finally got around to getting it repaired. Unfortunately, I'll never know the truth as to what caused the delay but was hoping someone in this group may have more details.

I am not sure if I remember this right but I believe there was a bad hail event shortly after February….maybe your truck was one of the ones damaged and it took this long to repair. Hard to believe it would take that long. I would press my dealer..

the good news is you are getting your truck…

Thanks however I'm not so sure I want the truck now given no official explanation for the delay.

I agree, especially since it now has deprecated in value since 2024 are already hitting the roads… I would have bailed on it the minute the 2024 orders opened..

@brv10, do you have access to see what caused the production delay for this truck? I'm on the fence with keeping this order so any additional information you can offer will be much appreciated.

Thank you. //Stephen

I purchased a Chevy Van for my business that went through this. No one could or would explain the delay only later finding out during a service visit that it was recalled to the factory. The gentleman I was working with had a very bad look on his face while discussing the issue I was having and would not directly tell me if it was associated with the reason it was sent back to the factory. That was all I needed to see and traded it in the next day.

Inspect it, if it’s good then just take it if you still want it. You have a very low mileage 2023 model now.

I was kind of in the same boat with my 2022 order. It ended up taking almost 10 months. It was in JBLD status for the longest time and nobody could/would tell me why. The good thing was since it was a 2022 and i took delivery in April 2023 they had $5000 in rebates for 2022 models. Between that and the Friends/Family pricing plus the $500 for being a VFW member i got almost $11k off my contracted price.
