My 2020 Ram 2500 with the 6.4 of course has the 10,000 pound GVW and Ram says it has 2822 pounds of payload.

10,000 minus 2822 equals 7,178 pounds of empty truck weight.

Yesterday I hauled 30 bags of corn on a pallet and the truck weighed 9080 pounds (fuel tank full).

Today I weighed it empty with less than 25 miles driven since filling up and it weighed 7420 pounds, so the corn and pallet were 1,660 pounds.

Now I carry a small amount of tools, drop hitch with 2” & 2 5/16” balls and straps etc and I am about 185 pounds.

The 9080 pounds with 1660 pounds of corn does not jive with the factory payload numbers.

10000 minus 9080 is 920. 1660 plus 920 is 2580.

Is that difference of 242 pounds enough to wonder about?

I wouldn’t have even considered it other than I was curious and had it weighed.

When I back my tractor on my trailer the tongue weight gets heavy, but it tows good. However, when I weighed it I might have had the front trailer axle on the same part of the scale as the back axle of the Ram.
