Today, I put my Ram 2500 diesel into 4wd high to drive on some sand. Afterward, it would not switch back to 2wd. I'm traveling to Colorado and it drives fine on the highway, but cuty driving is difficult since its so hard to turn when in 4wd. Any suggestions would be helpful.

What does the dash say when you try to shift into 2wd?

Keep trying. The damage from running 4wd on a hard surface can be catastrophic.

Have you restarted the vehicle a few times to see? And anything plugged in to the OBD port as that has been known to affect the 4WD operation for some reason

My 18 2500 did that once. Dealer replaced some kind of servo motor, IIRC. I didn't pay a lot of attention since it was covered under warranty.

But like AH64ID says, don't drive it on dry pavement in 4wd.

Mine does it, shut it off and wait for 10 minutes and it clears. My dealer appointment is 10/4 and that's an issue on my list

Did you get it out of 4 wheel?

I don’t have the electronic shifter but (if you haven’t already) first try shifting while rolling slowly in N if that doesn’t work try shifting while rocking the truck gently in D/R

There is a front axle disconnect actuator that is a know issue. Had to have mine replaced last April on my 2018 2500 CTD. I was getting the service four wheel drive system when it acted up.
