Anyone have any experience with Venom tires? I have been wanting to step up to a true 35" tire on the PW but haven't due to the lack of dedicated snow tires in large sizes. I found these guys with their Ice Hunter tires but haven't ever heard of them before. They make a studdable 35x12.5r17 that would work fit great.

I have never seen them before but the don't look like they would be great lots of sipes which is good but the tread pattern looks more like a street tire not a good gripping tire for snow. The three peaks winter rated duratracs come in 35s i would get them over the tires you linked in a heat beat i love my duratracs in the winter and i plow with my truck

Lol I knew you'd be in touting the Duratrac

And here comes @Crusty old shellback with the 34.4" BFG's :D

Do t forget the Wildpeak AT3W, since it’s a 3PMSF tire too!
Yeah I was just wanting an actual snow tire - a lot of tires are branded with the 3PMSF and may do ok in the snow but aren't on the same level (IMO) than an actual snow tire. I've tried numerous all season and A/T tires on various cars and trucks and none of them compared in the the snow to a dedicated snow tire. The traction isn't even comparable.

If I could have something bigger than the stock size it would be like having my cake AND eating it too LOL

Probably out of luck. I may try the Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT tire - they make a 315/70R17 that can be studded.

Yeah, definitely cant beat the traction on a “real” snow tire. I do believe that size Hakkapeliitta is the largest snow tire available.

FWIW, the 3P DuraTracs are also studdable.

I know you’re talking about dedicated snow tires but I had a set of the Nokian Outpost all terrains on my truck last winter and they were awesome. I do a lot of ice fishing and we had a lot of snow and ice last year in MN. I never had any issues at all on bad roads. You should check them out. I plan to run then again when I need tires. They are light, quiet, and look great too. And since they are made by Nokian it makes sense that they are good on ice and snow.

Meh after reading about these a bit more they're made in China and don't have a stellar reputation.... I mean I took the china-bombs off my trailers first thing in favor of some American rubber so using these would be just wrong.... LOL

I'll be patient and keep looking/hoping someone will make a good true snow tire in a large size.

the only dedicated winter tire i have ever liked or found useful in deep snow is the avalanche xtreme

So far, so good. They make a little noise when turning at speed on the freeway. I think they will do good in mud and snow. They are a R/T tire. 35x12.50R17.

Do you happen to have a picture of them mounted on your 75th wheels?

I’d avoid Venom. Had a really bad experience with them being out of round. Not worth the hassle for the cheap price.
