Hi from Australia,
Looking for acrylic/plastic headlight stone protectors. I have scoured the internet but cannot find anyone who seems to make them. I have a 2020 Limited Mega Cab 3500.
Anyone know of anyone making such a thing?
Thanks for your help.
Cheer,
Bill

Up here we have shops that do tinted widows and PPF, they can/do supply film for headlights along with whatever body parts you want protected. Do you have similar shops down that way?

Hi Flan, Yes, we have places that do tinting and the like but a film is not going to stop a rock breaking a headlight. A moulded piece of acrylic or plastic is what normally passes for rock protection here.

yes, brand name. what size rock are we talking? at what speed? material of said rock? incoming angle of attack?

too many variables, but I've never had issues and been running that product for years.

Now I know what they keep in their front pouch.

Generally, you don't get to see the rock that breaks or cracks your light or windscreen, they just flick up from vehicles going in the opposite direction. I lost 2 windscreens on an 04 F250 years ago and I have had one on my current ride, a 2020 Ram 3500 Limited Megacab. I recently returned from a 9000km trip and the new screen took a hit that I have repaired and so far, so good. Not much I can do about windscreens, but I thought there may be something I can fit to limit or prevent damage to the headlights. As we all know, they are expensive, and availability here in Australia is non existent, has to come from the US.

It sounds like the kangaroos hide in the bushes with slingshots.
Kangaroos, Emus, cattle, pigs, sheep and goats, don't hide in the bushes, the dopey bastards run right out in front of you. I hit an emu a few years back. He stepped out of bushes that were fairly close to the road, he baulked when he realised my truck was there, then, he tried getting between my truck and my caravan, bad move. That was game over for him. feathers and all the rest went flying. Fortunately I caught him on the spare wheel I carry on the front of the caravan so minimal damage. This **** happens all the time here, especially out west.
