Y43 Recall PM Sensor for 22 Pickups

Very easy to find, or not find.

FYI, My 2022 had the Particulate Matter Module and not the Particulate Matter Sensor portion. My dealer's tech had the truck for 45 minutes and said your good to go you had the sensor, all we had to do was reprogram the PCM. I told them they were mistaken and the sensor was missing. I had printed the TSB instructions that were posted on another forum for the 4500/5500 trucks and showed them what was missing. The Y43 recall notice states "The Particulate Matter Sensor and Module on your vehicle [1] may not have been installed. Notice it does not say and/or. The tech saw the module and thought it was good. I am not sure what would have happened if I had driven it with the reprogrammed PCM and the sensor still missing.

Dropped mine off yesterday and dealer has me nervous now. I just received a call and they ordered the wrong sensor and the new one will be here tomorrow. Not a big deal but what's concerning is they removed my DPF from the truck? I surely hope the service advisor misunderstood the tech and they didn't pull my DPF, I have crawled under the truck and you can access it very easily. Lets see what tomorrow brings, hopefully a truck in my driveway.

Pretty sure the recall timeframe doesn’t involve DPF removal. Oh well.

Weren't you considering a weight loss program already? If so, the dealer may have done some of the work for you!

Ha, I am but would like to stay emissions on as long as possible. Once I get the truck back I'm going to be crawling under it to make sure I have both sensors installed.

I brought my 2022 in a few days ago for the y43 recall...I was told that the sensor was there and and just needed the updated reflash...I drove away and and about 30 mins later the check engine light comes on...my scanner shows u02a3, Lost Communication With Particulate Matter Sensor Module...I call the dealer immediately and I'm told they can't get me in until Aug 28th...anyone else experience this...hoping its something simple to avoid wasting another day at the dealer..I was checking for loose or disconnected connectors, but everything seems tight.

See my post 7 back from this one. There is a sensor and a module that the sensor plugs in to. You most likely do not have the sensor portion or maybe both. The image below is looking forward. You should have two sensors here. If you only have one and the other has a plug in it you are still missing the sensor. The green colored one is the Particulate sensor. If you have both sensors then follow the wires up and verify that they are plugged in. You can see on mine they failed to route the wire through the open holder.

You are 100% correct...there is still a plug/cap where that green sensor is. Thank you for the reply...essentially dealer told me same thing they told you, and I was just uneducated/naive enough to trust them.

Any chance you can link the tsb instructions...service manager is telling me they followed, as per the recall to only reflash pcm. I'm trying to be proactive and have them order the sensor so it can be installed and done with when I come in for the appointment on the 28th. I've located one in stock and another dealer.. I'm tempted to just pay the 200, install it myself and get rid of this check engine light

I do not have the instructions for the 2022 2500/3500 trucks. I referenced the instructions for the 4500/5500 trucks which is close but I don't know if they are the same. I have attached the file. You could ask the service manager to print them or go over them while you are looking at the screen. The bottom line is that the sensor is not there and they need to fix the issue.

Got my recall notice yesterday (Canada). I can see the plug, so I know the sensor is missing , ill crawl under my truck and see if the module is there or not.

Cant locate where the DP module is on the 2500's. The 2500 doesn't seem to have the same mounting plate setup on top of the DPF that I saw on the 3500 earlier in the thread (not that I can see form crawling underneath and taking pictures). Anyone know where to find that Module on a 2022 2500 for me to verify ? Id like to know if both are missing before I go to the stealership

Also, any one know if this recall will result in less DEF usage ?

It’s a nationwide campaign. Started off with cab and chassis trucks last year and now have moved on to all others that were built without it.

Pic 2, green sensor wire runs to the module on the far right.

It's a "recall" to actually put in the missing sensor. There was "no stock" available for new trucks being built, but Ram worked a "deal" to allow those truck to be delivered/sold with the promise to install said sensor when stock became available.

I ain't got either on my 22'. Wires plugged into nothing.

I'm on the east coast and heard about it from the dealer last week when I was there for the grid heater relay. They didn't have the part yet though so didn't complete.

Got my notice in the mail today.
