I. Just purchased a 2019 2500 Ram 4x2 with the 6.4 hemi-3.73 Axel.....We are looking at a fifth wheel with a dry weight of 10300 so I wanted to know if I will have issues pulling it? Thanks in advance for anyone’s help

Forget dry weight.

What's the GVWR of the trailer? GVWR and pin weight is what you need to plan for. Expect 18-22% of GVWR on the pin max.

What does your door sticker say your payload is?

What trim level is the truck?

You should have plenty of payload. You'll probably be maxed out on max tow capacity.

You'll pass everything but a gas station. 6-8 MPG will get old real quick! But, to each his own.

BTW, got 2 outings under my belt now, One to Moab first week in May (had to stay in RV park), and one up on
Uncompahgre (campsite elevation 8700) Memorial weekend, Tows like a dream! Running around 2900 pin weight, truck-12k, two trailers about14.5k,
26,500 total. And 9-10 MPG at 70ish

Our first trip out is a short run to Pueblo Lake middle of June.

We were supposed to do a dry run camper only this weekend, but everyone cancelled.

I haven't even hooked up to check hitch height but it's set within 1/2" of the old truck so should be good.

Based on measurements, they should be dang near identical ride height as well with both level (had bags on the 2500) though the 2500 rode 1" higher at the rear tailgate unloaded.

It's "small" fifth wheel territory, but I definitely wouldn't be too comfortable with a DRY weight over 10k, it's do-able, but I wouldn't personally. Frankly I'd be shooting for no more than 10k all in to be safe. The 4x2 may offer some slight gains over my 4x4 numbers above, but still.

I'm pulling about 14-15k with 1k of torque, I can't imagine what that would be like with less than half that! I will say they are a kick to drive around empty!

I tow about 13k. But I’m not heading to the mountains for sure, just a Florida flatlander. You get to stop at a lot of gas stations to stretch your legs.

Since you're at sea level you'll have all your horsepower, and no mountains, you probably will be okay. And the rest of the time you get to listen to that sweet V8!!

I’m curious. All you guys with 3500 SRW trucks, what is your payload? When looking at the towing specs on the RAM webpage I dont see these huge differences in payload until you step up to a DRW. Am I misreading these charts?

I have the same basic truck but with the HO Cummins and I have 25,000 lb towing capacity 4100 payload. DRW has about 1,700 more payload and much more towing capacity because you can get 410 gears.

Same here, SRW is all I need based on my pulling needs. I have 4259 PL and 20,575 towing which I think is still outstanding and I won't be driving around a dually when we're out and about.

Yeah, it does take a little. If you need 4X4 it's a small price to pay. I shouldn't and wouldn't need it given my plans.
