No clue how/why it happened, but I lost the parking brake on my PW over the weekend. No warning or anything obvious. I just went to use it when I parked and the pedal went to the floor with no resistance. I called the stealership this morning and they can't get my truck in to diagnose the issue until AUGUST 29th!! Seriously... WTH?? Hire more mechanics if you need help to cut down on the wait times. That's insane.

In the meantime, anyone have any ideas on where to start with diagnosing the issue? I'm at a loss with this one.

Hard to hire more mechanics when nobody wants to work. Almost every dealership has help wanted signs. I would start at the rear wheels and work your way forward. The parking brake is pretty simple. If you have done a lot of flexing the brake cables can get stretched and maybe knocked loose

Thanks for the tips. I'll jump under the truck tomorrow evening when it starts to cool down a bit and see what I can find.

So I took my truck to the stealership this afternoon for an oil change (unable to do any diagnostics on the brakes until late Aug). While there I told the service rep of my issue and asked if the tech(s) wouldn't mind doing a quick look to see if there's any obvious issues with the parking brake cables while the truck is on the lift. She said no problem. She even got them to address the latest recall (tailgate latch) for me while I was there even though they told me on the phone yesterday that couldn't be done until late Aug. Regardless, I was super thankful for them stepping up and taking care of the recall.

They did look over the brake cables and didn't see any obvious issues. Looks like this may need to wait until late Aug to get the rear rotors removed to inspect the parking brake assembly. Of course, that's assuming it isn't something with the pedal or in the front area with the cables. Either way, this sucks. Another 5-6 weeks without a parking brake.
