Hey all. This is a maddening one. I’ve dropped many F-bombs discovering this heading out on a short camping/fishing trip with my 2 kids. I have a slide in truck camper and usually pull a drift boat behind it. Went to connect the 7-pin umbilical connector for the camper to the plug on the rear of truck for power and then then 4-pin connector for the drift boat trailer harness and you can’t plug them both in together. The spring-hinged protective doors prevent you from plugging in both together. Only 1 at a time. Can’t believe this poor design. I can likely shave away plastic from the doors to make it work but I just didn’t have enough time to do it as I had to get on the road and had to bring another vehicle to tow the drift boat. Has anyone encountered this same issue and found a way to solve it without modifying the plastic plug doors and housing?

I'm assuming that you do not have the 5th wheel prep? You could use the plug in the bed for one of them if you have the prep

Nope. No 5th wheel prep.
And what’s funny is my 2002 2nd Gen Ram 2500 worked fine. It had plenty of plug clearance to connect both.
