I've been lurking for the past few weeks since I found this forum after I bought my truck and was searching Google. I bought my first Ram and first Diesel about 3 weeks ago!!
Took a risk and bought the truck on an online auction. It's a 2020 Ram 3500 Laramie 4wd. It was up in Washington so I wasn't able to preview it. Looked filthy in the pics but looked good otherwise. Being a Laramie I knew it had some bells and whistles but wasn't sure about everything. Other than the pics, I knew there were no check engine lights and that it started and would go forward and reverse 20ft. High miles at 130k for a 2/3 yr old truck, but figured since I work from home eventually it'd be a low mileage truck lol. Trucks are pricey but I believe I got a pretty good deal even with the high miles at $47k plus fees.
My daughter and I flew up to Portland on a Thursday morning and my buddy picked us up and took us up to the auction location about 1.5-2hrs north of Portland.
We gave the truck a look over. A few scratches here and there, but no dents.
The windshield was cracked. That was a bummer. I've since had it replaced.
Start it up, and it sounds good!! I get a message saying, "rear parksense unavailable service required"...another bummer but on a positive note, I didn't know it had parking sensors and the front work..so yay!!
Another positive surprise was that it has blind spot warning which I was super happy to have. Has rain sense wipers, heated and cooling seats, heated steering wheel and a few other things. Definitely good enough for who it's for!!
We drove back to Portland. It drove smoothly with no issues. That was a good first test. Friday morning I had a mobile detailing company clean it up because it was filthy inside. We then drove down to Salem to visit my sister for a few hrs, then to sweet home to my dad's place to visit his wife and stay the night. Saturday morning we headed for Cali, we cut over to the coast in Southern Oregon to Northern California and checked out some of the big Redwood trees. That was very cool!!

Stayed the night in Ft Bragg and went to the glass beach the next morning...then 9 more hrs of driving to long beach. A great few dad/daughter days!!
No issues with the truck, ran perfectly. 1288 miles. Extremely pleased!!

It's been a while since I've owned a truck....I've had a forklift for about three years but no pick up lol. Just renting when I needed to haul stuff but this will be way more convenient.
The carfax report (which I probably should have ordered before the end of the auction!!) showed that it was serviced on average every 13k miles. I took it to the dealership and had it serviced earlier this week. They put me on a list for the dipstick and fuel pump recalls.
Good timing on getting another vehicle to drive because I just had the catalytic converter stolen out of my Prius yesterday. lame. But it does have me wondering if Ram trucks converters are at risk.
I picked up alfaOBD and OBDlink and the cable so that I can see if I can figure out the rear parksense issue. Picked up Gino's locking fuel caps.
thanks!
