Update on my Ram 3500:
When the Truck started showing signs of an issue with the Transmission, I was 15 min north of Greer Arizona on a Fire Road. This is out in the middle of nowhere in eastern Arizona @ about 10,500 ft elevation. Contacted my buddy who is one of the part’s managers @Earnhardt Ram, one of the largest Dealerships in the US. He was familiar with the Trans issues and had the K-1 Clutch kits in stock as well as other parts that are on a list Ram has put out as possible additional parts required.
I then called Horne Ram in Show Low, where Arizona, the closest Dealer to the location the trans failed. I spoke to the service manager. He said he was familiar with the Trans issue as he had 3 Trucks sitting there waiting for Parts. I asked how long the wait for parts he said 45-60 days. I told him Earnhardt had them in stock, he told me to tow it to them since they had the parts.
Had the truck towed to Earnhardt last Saturday, spoke to Mark Ray, the Service Advisor my buddy suggested. He said he was aware of the K-1 issues. He stated Even though one of there Transmission techs was out on vacation this week it would be done before I had to leave on vacation. They were able to get to it Friday, as there were a few truck ahead of mine. The Tech worked on it all day Friday and then came in this morning to finish it, as did Mark Ray on his day off.
They called me this morning around 8 and said I could come get it. As I was scheduled to go out of town on Tuesday with my 42 ft. Toy Hauler to California, this was great news. I’m crossing my fingers that all is well, but so far so
good, truck drives great. I can’t say enough good things about Earnhardts Parts Department,Service techs and Mark Ray my Service Advisor. Now I will probably have to fight Ram for towing reimbursement, since I had it towed to the Dealer with the Parts and know how to fix it, not the closest Dealer.
To anyone that has a similar situation, I would recommend finding one of the largest Dealers you can. They will be more likely to have parts available and Techs with experience on the K-1 Failure.
