In an emergency, can a water pump from an 18 be used in a 19?

I see different part numbers from both Mopar and Cummins for 13-18 and 19-23.
I just pulled some part numbers from rock auto so if cummins and mopar are different numbers im not sure then
 
I’m seeing different part numbers on rock auto too.
Us motor works shows the same P/N i did not notice the GMB was different number. Im not sure what would be different as the block design did not change just the material as they went to CGI vs cast steel
 
Pretty sure from a fitment perspective it would fit and work to get you by in a pinch. Depending on the aftermarket pump manufacturer I've seen them cross reference from 89-22 and even some cross referencing to the 4BT. Know plenty of guys who would slap a 6.7 water pump on a 5.9 and looking at part numbers for our 4.45324059843905843905 gen's some show cross reference to 13-18 while others don't. Who knows exactly what changed in the water pump design, but I'd imagine you could get by with the 18 water pump on a 19 in an emergency situation.

Thats a good point the 5.9 6bt pump has the same pump as the 6.7s and the part numbers are different. I wonder if its just the impeller difference

Very possible, I know that was the difference in the 5.9 and 6.7 pump in 2007.

I wasn’t uncommon for guys to put the 5.9 pump on deleted 6.7 pumps due to the EGR delete. I don’t know if that’s still a thing or not.
 
Just an update……the old cast iron pump works. NAPA brought me one with a gallon of premix anti-freeze. Changed it out on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere North Dakota. So far it works good for the first 160 miles. Will try to remember to take a picture of the factory one that tossed its pulley. I think I still have time to make delivery to Fort St. John, BC by Friday. Go, go, go!
 
That has to be one of the worst pump failures I’ve seen in a while. How many miles did you actually get out of it before it ate it ? Also unfortunately not the 1st time I've heard of an aftermarket pump failing so quickly.

In the USMW 2023 manual it say 13-15 6.7L Cummins, so even that needs updated.

The USMW catalog has OEM part numbers in it for 13-18, but not 19-23.

That was the factory pump, somewhere around 415,000+ miles.

That’s also my thought, but the housing looks different and I wonder if it’s just a lighter materiel.
