I am very happy to have had my injector pump replaced recently. However after the replacement, my exhaust brake does not function while cruise control is activated. (It is in Tow haul and tried it both in full exhaust brake and auto exhaust brake) Two others on this board are having issues with the exhaust brake AFTER the Y78 recall was done. Not the exact issue, but exhaust brake not working as it did. The only thing done besides the mechanical R&R of the pump was a re-flash on the computer. The dealer has already replaced the cruise control switch saying it showed faulty. No change in exhaust brake etc. I have contacted RAM customer service and get the standard " Go to your local dealer and have our highly trained techs look at it". I am going to attempt that route again for the second time in June. For now I will just have to throttle myself down hills etc to activate the exhaust brake. If you have had your injector pump replaced on the Y78 recall and the exhaust brake is not functioning as it was or should, please post here so RAM cares can see it. TIA. I have a 2020 RAM 3500 HO with Aisin trans.

Interesting, I haven’t tried cc since the reflash. I use it very infrequently anyways.

You don't say what year or model truck you have. Same with the "Two others having issues" you mention.
I have a 2020 HO and everything is working the same as it was before the pump change.

John, I forgot the model etc and year is not attached. 2020 RAM 3500 HO w/Aisin.

Since 2012 when I bought a "Max Tow 3500" (This truck being #5 of since then) with the factory ebrake, I have used the cruise control in the mountains etc. If going down a 6% grade recommended speed 50 I would set cruise at 48mph and the truck would work hard via ebrake to keep me at 52-54 etc. Including downshifting etc. Now, I can set cruise at 50- 55 etc and roll all the way past 70 mph with no downshifts and the ebrake only puts out 100-110 bhp and the truck virtually free wheels as fast as it can roll downhill. As soon as I disengage cruise control and tap the brake, the ebrake kicks in like it used to etc.

Interesting. I wouldn't think the recall flash would have caused that, but I don't know how it all works so have no suggestions other than time to see the dealer.

The way you describe the truck working after the recall is how my ‘18 worked from day 1. I had to manually downshift in CC every time, it never did it to maintain speed. The ‘22 works like yours did before the recall.

I wonder if they used some older programming, or if it’s a glitch.

They reprogrammed the PCM after the Y78 was done and I can only guess that's the cause. The ebrake etc has no idea what Injector pump is on the engine,. I believe it is controlled by the PCM telling it what and when to do what etc. Probably missed a line of code for cruise control ebrake etc. They changed the switch which did nothing.

Yes the ECM programming controls the brake. I’d see if they can reflash it.

It's awesome when it works right. Going down a 6% grade if the speed is 50 mph I set it at 45-6ish and the truck will fight like crazy to keep me from going over 50mph..Thats with a 17K 5th wheel. I'm sure heavier it might be a bit different. Now I have to throttle down the hill and tap the brakes to activate a downshift in ebrake mode to do the same. PITA but better then no ebrake.

Got a feeling more peeps will have to complain before the engineer in his cubicle adds code for a reflash. So far 2 more on this board have chimed in.

Just got my 2023 2500 (June 5th) and it doesn't appear the Exhaust Brake is activating. When I push the aux switch it lights up however, no notification appears on the cluster like Ram says it does in the videos I have watched and no light of any kind either. Don't hear or feel anything when driving either. Any feedback is appreciated

When exhaust brake is on FULL (yellow color dash light) and you let off throttle no activation or cannot hear it working? It should work at most speeds until below about 15 mph to help slow you down. Its even more aggressive in tow haul mode. Auto Exhaust brake is not as active as full and its a green light on the dash.

Thanks for your reply! I figured out what I was doing wrong smh. My exhaust brake functions as designed now that I am actually pushing the correct button. As they say, sometimes you're the windshield lol.

I’ll bet you pushed the Aux switch below the exhaust brake emblem. Don‘t feel like the Lone Ranger. I’ve done the same thing and I’ll bet so have others.

FWIW, my EB works the same as before Y78.

In case you can't see the sig, 2020 HO
Mine is good except for in "cruise control". Does not activate in either auto or full e-brake. Makes driving more "interactive" then before . Now I have to get it to do what it used to do automatically.
