My 2022 Ram 2500 is amazing but I have one small gripe. The power fold mirrors are a great feature (14 years in a non-power folding mirrors truck reinforced this opinion). Unfortunately Ram does not have a setting to make the mirrors power fold when the doors are locked. This means parking and locking your truck will keep those big mirrors in the way of passengers walking by. I understand you can push the button EVERY TIME I leave or start the truck which leads to button wear (same as exhaust brake due to lack of ‘memory state’ that is another gripe of mine) and unnecessary repetitive task. Both of these can be solved by a simple programming update by Ram. I contacted Ram and they said if enough Ram owners made them aware of the situation they would add it to an update. So if you share my opinion please connect Ram support and help enlighten them.

Auto fold mirrors will be introduced on the 2023’s.
Ram will never…ever…allow the exhaust brake to remember last state for safety reasons.
You won’t wear out your buttons by using them all the time, I promise.
Another tip- the power fold button is powered all the time, even when engine is off, and it is within reach of your finger when grabbing the door handle to get out of the truck.

Great but I am not going to buy a 2023. Please reread my post about REPETITIVE tasks because you aren’t understanding the purpose of its post. 2022 owners need to have a voice to make Ram act and to make the truck better. Also if you don’t believe buttons can show signs of wear (look at any key fob from 5 years of use) then I have some costal shore front property to sell you in Indiana.

Mirror motors will wear out from folding and unfolding on every lock/unlock long before their button would wear out by using it only in the instances where you need to have them folded. And, I’d rather replace a $30 driver door master switch than $300+ mirror assemblies.
As far as ram retroactively adding a feature to previous years, the reality is, it’s just not going to happen. It doesn’t matter how many people you get to crusade with you, or what ram reps might have told you. I know ram like the back of my hand, and I can tell you exactly how many times they (jeep, dodge, ram, Chrysler) have retroactively added a feature of a newer model year to an older model year vehicle. IOW, you’re better off biting the bullet and getting the Tazer Ram for auto fold, otherwise, you’ll be waiting a long time.

I'm actually in the market for a coastal front property in Indiana!

If by "wear out" the button you mean the silk screening will wear off that is true. The button itself "wearing out" not very likely.

I honestly would not want my mirrors to auto fold on door lock. I do not think any has ever been harmed by my mirrors - but I don't tend to park near people if I can avoid it, if I do I push that button thingy. If its a big inconvenience probably should have looked at another brand.

Why does ram allow cab and chassis trucks to remember exhaust brake state? I’m just curious

I don’t want the mirrors to fold on my 22 automatically. It’s not an issue pushing the button to open/close them. You should look at the gmc Denali. My son’s truck does that.

Well, originally I did not think I would really want auto fold mirrors, however, now having a 2023 with that option I like it.

It helps in these damn tight parking spots where you have to duck below your mirror to get to the door. It also help prevent people from messing with your mirrors because they have RAM envy. Its also a visual confirmation for me that the truck is locked.

I'd love to have that feature, too, but as mentioned above, it's unlikely they will add new features to existing vehicles. At least it hasn't happened in the past that I know of.

I am not understanding why people think k this should be a thing...nMe one manufacturer that foes this?

You want power fold mirrors? Buy a 23 BCM and mirror with AlfaOBD.

Probably need the MY23 update to UC5 as well...
