Is this 2023 leaf spring configuration different from before?
I'm coming from a 2016 Ram 3500 HO dually to a 2023 Ram 3500 HO dually.
I don't remember the lower overload spring in addition to the upper overload spring.

It seems to ride smoother on the bumps than my 2016 Ram 3500 HO dually. Or am I being optimistic?
Is it the same springs or different?

The lower one looks new to me im not sure when they started that. the top overloads are normal

Ooohhh. I like that lower overload, it’s similar to how the auto-level is setup.

My 22 3500, I have factory air though…

I see the lower spring but not the upper.

Damn hopefully that thing doesn’t get caught on something. My 22 has auto air leveling system so I do not have that spring.

Completely different leaf spring setup.

I don't think it's changed. I believe if you look, that's only a half spring is more an anti-axle wrap than load.

Funny, I was just thinking yesterday how much better my 23 3500 SRW 6.4 bed (no air) rides as compared to my 16 3500 DRW 8ft bed (no air). Still feels like a HD truck, but much smoother and less jarring, even over the expansion joints on the Interstate around Colorado Spring and Denver. Tire pressures are the same so maybe it is the springs??

SRW air and no air, DRW air and no air - all 4 have different spring setups.

What are the differences between SRW and DRW w/air? I haven’t noticed any differences in person.

I guess I was wrong on the leaf count. I have to imagine the spring rates are different.

Honestly everything I’ve seen and read says the 3500 auto-level suspensions are identical between the SRW and DRW.

The springs are really just for stability and statically have the same weight on them all the time since the ride height doesn’t change (aside from norm/ALT). The airbags carry all the payload once sufficient weight is carried by the springs to get into ALT.
