First, are upfitter/auxiliary switches available in 2023 Limiteds with the big screen? Of that I am not certain, though I know they were available in earlier 5th gen models as shown below.

I chose to have the reverse trailer steering on my new 2500 Limited. As a result, the steering knob is where the upfitter switches should/could have been as shown below.

Forgetting about switch placement for the moment, are the harnesses still in there and is the programability still in the system? Where would I look for either to confirm?

I want to power lights, etc. and could use an Auxbeam Panel but would like to know if I could do it with the OEM capabilities if they are there. IIRC, the OEM circuits allowed for always-on, ignition-on and all had slots in the engine-side fuse box. The challenge with the Auxbeam is that there is no real area to mount it in this truck without screwing with the nice, purdy surfaces.

BTW, gone in the 2023 are CD players, mine just has an open slot which is fine by me.

@Jimmy07 can likely answer your questions. Just an FYI there have not been any 5th gen HD trucks produced these are only 4th gens still technically but referred to as 4.5gen

Yeah, well, uh, forgive the newb for this faux pas. Thus far, I only know what the marking department has been spewing at me.

So when the 2024s get a 10 speed, will that make them 4.75th gen?

Why do you need a phone holder with wireless CarPlay?

If you can ditch that trailer steering for aux switches, I would in a heartbeat. The aux switches are 10 times more useful.
Trailering is sort of new to us. I have trailered a 20’ CC, 15’ utility trailer and small chit, but never an 8,000 pound, 27’ travel trailer which we pick up next week.

My wife accused me of having a streak of dyslexia, confusing my rights from my lefts, so any little cheat I can get I will take.

As for the phone, we must use them differently because I have always used some sort of dash mounting with CarPlay, wired in last two trucks. I hate using CarPlay for text messages and forget emails. Only use for me is music and navigation.

I dont think we will get a 10 speed ever they may do the 8 speed but id imagine they would wait until the body change rumoured for 2025.

The bigger the trailer the easier it is to back up. but even then im sure its a pain to setup and use if its anything like the ford was

2020 was last year for the CD player

AFAIK, Trailer steering was part of the package and a requirement to get the new DRVM 3.0 with the side camera views. You couldn't get DRVM 3.0 without it which meant no AUX.

I don't know what if any effect removing the trailer steering/switch module might have or if it's possible at all. I expect the resident tech guru will show up soon and give valuable input.

The 27' foot Airstream is 9'9" tall before the 3" Dexter lift I am having them do, so 10 feet even.

I am having a ProPride 3P installed so the reverse steering may help make lining up the stinger with the female part on the trailer easier. That and lots of cameras on the back of the truck

Just to be clear, I have no interest in removing the trailer steering module, my interest is somehow adding back the OEM auxiliary switches if the harnesses and software exist in my truck. The programmability of the OEM switches is far better than even the very capable Auxbeam switch controller.

That said, Mopar only appears to offer the aux switches as part of a module which includes the towing switches above it in most trucks. I have yet to see just the switches in a single line.

Correct, at a minimum all HD’s have T/H so you won’t ever see aux switches without anything extra.

The current trailer knob and switches occupy the space where the option and AUX switches install and as AH64ID indicated, will always have at least one option button.

There is no Aux switch cluster option that includes the trailer steering.
