I would like to have the aux power in the trailer connection only come on when the truck is running

Currently it is always on

In the trailer i would like to have a a battery charger and inverter running off of tne aux power but i do mot want to drain the battery when the truck is not running

I have alpha obd so i can change the settings

The only way i think you can do it is cut the wire for pin 4 12V+ and put in a relay that is controlled off the ignition or an aux switch.

It’s not a setting, it’s hard wired that way.

I have read of people cutting the wire under hood and splicing in a voltage sensing realy.

You can also add the voltage sensing relay in the camper, but I’ve heard it’s not as effective due to the voltage drop from the long run.

I am thinking of adding a relay at the plug so when i turn on the running lights the aux power will kick in

If you want to do that I might suggest picking up one of the adapters that goes between the stock factory wiring and the bumper plug. They’re designed for splitting off power and lighting for a cap, but having one of those will let you do what you want without hacking up the factory wires.

That sounds like a good idea
I think i have a pig tail that i made up once when the wires on a trailer ended up short i think they drug on the ground. I will look for it and do it there. If it works i may look for a cable behind the plug to keep factory wire intact

I would tap in a relay at the F30 fuse location.

If you have Aux switches, you could set one up to be on with ignition, or perhaps use the dash top cig lighter power as the control and move that fuse to the IGN only slot.
