Lets see what you are towing!

Picked up this bad boy yesterday from Mark Dodge and hauled it to Corpus.

Finally picked up our TT.

I drove from Flori-duh to Oregon in 3.5 days (not the smartest idea) and the wife flew (she was the smart one).
Currently taking a slow-ish drive back home and enjoying the sights.

Did some quick CAT scales and some measurements before/after hookup with the WDH.
Truck seems to be pretty level, but the TT seems a smidge nose down...

Unloaded
Front 40" from ground to bottom of fender well
Rear 42.5 from ground to bottom of fender well

Hitch only
Front 40.75
Rear 40.25

With WDH
Front 40.5
Rear 40.5

Based on the numbers above and the weight tickets below, I'm thinking a more weight to the front or is this good?
Seems to be towing really well, but I'd like to get it dialed in... input or links to good source material appreciated.

thanks

What I’m seeing

Your truck weighs 8440
Your trailer weighs 9660
You’re transferring 1140 tongue weight to the truck

Your weight distribution hitch is doing jack sh*t because you’ve ended up with 1600 more lb on the rear axle and 500lb less on the front axle.

Thanks... my wife is the numbers person and she didn't think the numbers looked right.
I haven't had an opportunity to weight the rig with just the hitch (which I should have)... so I really don't know how much it has moved back to the front.

I would think the weight on the front axle should be closer to the original weight.

I’m 3/4 drunk so trust your wife’s numbers not mine.

I’d weigh the rig with the trailer tongue weight and no WDH and then start adjusting and weigh again.

The whole idea of the WDH is to transfer some of the tongue/hitch weight (rear axle) back to the front axle.

Besides the cap, what are you carrying in your truck? If your payload is 2900 lbs you have amassed 1,400 lbs of “stuff”!

A Toyota with a CTD. That's an interesting combo. Beautiful rig though. The FJ55 has always been my favorite of the Land Cruisers. I've always thought one on a modern suspension (my body is too broken for 1960s leaf springs) would be a great toy.

Finally picked up the 5er(150 series Reflection 298BH). B&W Companion stationary hitch in the factory puck system. She’s a little nose high but is empty and I also have the hitch set back and high for now. As we load it up and get some miles on I may adjust the hitch and can tune the Timber Grove air bags to compensate for coil squat. Happy so far.

Thanks again to all that helped with the hitch install.

That’s a nice combo sir and I might be a smidge jealous! I’d like to have that floor plan and my oldest wants a white night edition something awful (her dream truck).
