Remote Tailgate Release

Strange. I thought all Laramie's had remote tailgate release standard.

I have a Level A Laramie and i have the button my overhead console and also on my key fobs.

Absolutely.. see post 1. This is a reason i went Laramie being a 5th wheel owner.
 
If I'm carrying something heavy I can drop it from afar before carrying said item over. Other than that, I just like neat stuff.

Just solder the button onto the key fob and it works. Worked like a charm for me. There is another post that shows you how and what kit to buy on Amazon. Less than $9 total.

Can you share the other post? Or the kit on amazon?
 
Same for 2022. I soldered the buttons in on my Tradesman for tailgate and remote start. Tailgate worked immediately, remote start worked after turning on with AlphaOBD.

After testing with mine, I set up my buddy's 2020 Tradesman the same. Easy peasy.
 
So I just ordered a 2023 2500 big horn it states that I’ll have the dampened tail gate but doesn’t state that it has auto magic tailgate release so I’m wondering if it will have it. The truck will essentially be a fully loaded big horn minus the sunroof and night edition

If it has the dampener is should have the release as far as i am aware they dont put the shock on the trucks without remote release

The Bighorn will just have the dampener. Laramie and up trims have the tailgate release.
 
Well… if they had a closure to go with it might be worth it…but just opener nah I’ll pass.

That’s what I was hoping it doesn’t state tail gate release so I suppose it may not come with but thanks for the info

Fair enough. I was hoping it did there was no option that stated tail gate release just the damaging. It is what it is
 
I think that remote tailgate along with passive entry (wish my ‘21 BH had that!) have both been added by numerous members without too much difficulty. Would need to activate both through AlphaOBD or dealership I’m guessing.

oh really it’s simply just programming? No adds ding a mechanism to release the tail gate. That’s pretty interesting. Thanks for the info

No you can just add the button to the fob with soldering skills and 9$ for 200 micro switches and the gate release will work off the FOB no programming needed i added it to me tradesman same with remote start( remote start needs programming)

Interesting that’s pretty cool and then I guess it would be a little more if you wanted to add the button the in truck. Can’t you do it from the app too? Isn’t there an app for these trucks to remote start any where and what not

Adding the in cab switch is more in depth (if it can even be done) and the remote start app is only with the 8.4 with nav and the 12” screen and subscription based app.

Oh **** really I’ll have the 12” screen I didn’t know it’s subscription based. But maybe it can be added to release from there as well?
