It's in "reduced power" mode but was running okay. I wouldn't put it past them to just be cashing in on an expensive repair under warranty.

The “reduced power” is a feature they have built in its not reduced power from the engine choking out. I dont think they are trying to cash in i just assume they have a check list to follow of parts to check/ throw at the truck till things start working

I drive that to work and back every day before the delete my truck would sometimes never hit op temp for a week at a time in the -40 winter never a DPF issue
If the truck is currently running an active regeneration cycle, you’ll know because the normal DPF capacity gauge will be replaced by a message that says “automatic exhaust system regeneration in process” That message will remain until the cycle is completed or canceled by the operator, at which point the DPF gauge will return and the message will disappear.
There is no way to know when the truck is currently regenerating passively as there is no message or indicator of any kind that tells you it’s doing that, passive regeneration just happens naturally as you drive. (Provided you’re working the truck hard enough)

Thank you. I'll have that DPF gauge showing full time from now on. There really should be a warning when it gets to 50% or so.
No problem. I think the trigger for a soot load based active regeneration cycle starts at 47%.
I believe their attempt was to make the emission system as minimally invasive and intrusive as possible, and for the most part it works that way. However I do think it is important for current owners / operators to have a better understanding of how these systems are designed to operate so that we can all make better decisions as to how they’re operated and cared for, as well as what to
Look for when things aren’t working correctly.
The same holds true for the DEF system. It’s designed to be user friendly and minimally disruptive but a lack of understanding and knowledge on how it works often leads to issues. A decent percentage of the DEF issues I see reported here and elsewhere can generally be traced back to some sort of mistake on the part of the owner / operator, or someone else involved in the process of supply and support for the vehicle.

It should start a normal active regen around 45-50%, which is why there isn't a warning. A warning only pops up when the normal active regen isn't able to clean the DPF at it gets to 70% ot more.

That makes me think a sensor failed and it sped past the initial warnings due to bad data.
My thoughts exactly.

Should show up as an error code right? Good news is the part came in yesterday. It's a miracle! Of course the diesel mechanic is off today...sheesh

Not always, it depends on how it fails. An incorrect reading within range can cause all kinds of issues without a code.
Another Wix 6930 redesign? I get 55 pleats on this one. I noticed the plastic grid on the top side is definitely different.

Definitely looks different than the two variations i encountered back in May of 22. Old 6930 on the left and updated (as of may 22) on the right. That newest one you posted looks even more cheaply made than the previous “update”. Is that plastic webbing on the top!?!? Send that thing back. There’s no way I’d trust that will hold up to one of our engines.

Yikes! Send it back and get a Fleetguard AF27684. Last one I got I pad $34 and it’s OEM and twice the quality.
Receipt shows list price of $98. I have a buddy with a shop that gets a helluva discount at NAPA in another town. He called and checked and he can buy the same filter for $27.

Just looked it up under our account. My cost $39.99. I think that went up a few bucks since I bought the last one a year ago, and ultimately returned it. What’s really funny, take a look at the image of the filter that comes up in NAPA PROLink when you search that filter….

2022 Ram 2500 Diesel
Anyone have issues with the new AF53034051AB? I installed the AB filter from Geno's garage and my regens have changed from 200 miles (14 miles commute with 15F cold starts) to 100-120 miles (50 miles commute with 45F cold starts) for 6 weeks, basically since i've installed the filter. I thought it was the cold weather cold starts causing issue and having been running checks with the CTS3 on all my sensors and injectors. I've been watching the dpf % on the CTS3 for 2 days now and thought the data was wrong since I was reading 50% soot levels with 0% on the truck screen. This morning CTS3 dpf % jumped from 56% start to 80% within 10 miles and the dpf truck screen went from 0 to 30%. Once I got to operating temps I noticed I was passive regening when I lugged the engine @ 75 miles ( egt2 +660 F) but it looked like it was a fine line of hitting the dpf filling on or off. It correlated with boost pressure +4 psig. I pulled off the highway and made a few stops on the way to work and the dpf % stop climbing. Let the truck idle for 30 mins at my work parking lot and the dpf % didn't change 1% during idle while it would climb 1% every 30 secs while in boost. Sent an email to Geno but might need to start testing a few filters. Going to take my short commute home with more city driving and stay out of boost to further test my hypothesis.

Was the filter you installed orange foam with a yellow’ish oiled media, or was it black foam with a white dry media?
