2022 Aisin Failure Tracking Sheet

I hope everyone that is having, or has had, issues with this transmission failing have reported the issue to the NHTSA. Reporting this issue to the NHTSA is the only way that RAM is going to be held accountable in getting these transmissions fixed. Somehow RAM has managed to avoid having to recall these vehicles. You can report the issue at https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem#index

Can I ask why?

Well….

There are 158 trucks currently on my spreadsheet confirmed to have K1 snap ring failures.

As of 11:30am eastern time, there are only a total of 27 complaints filed under “powertrain” on the 2022 Ram 3500 on NHTSA’s website. I’d say it’s a fair bet most of the failures aren’t being reported.

I did attempt to speak with someone there regarding this issue but was told flat out “we don’t want to talk to you because your truck hasn’t failed”

We reported ours in February. I wish more people would think about it and report theirs.

Hey Matt, I have been wondering if folks who have experienced the Aisin failures regularly use Tow/Haul mode when towing and if using/not using that feature would have an effect. My gut says it shouldn't matter much, but these are the things I think about when I can't sleep at night.

Some were using it, some were not. It is not a guarantee that using tow / haul will cause the failure. There have been numerous ones that failed while not towing, and not using tow haul.

Matt have you considered asking people to report to NHTSA when you ask for their truck information? Maybe including a link for them?

We were not towing when ours failed. We had only used tow/haul 3 times for a total of 75 miles towing our pretty light travel trailer before it failed. Just completed a short 120 mile trip with it over the weekend with no issues on the new transmission.

I mention it often in the midst of the conversations I have with owners, however most don’t seem to either be interested enough to do it, or don’t care. I struggle to get basic information and updates from some of these people. It’s been a struggle trying to keep my data as accurate and up to date.

I think we all appreciate what you’re trying to do. I haven’t had any issues with mine. It would be nice if everybody gave you the code from the transmission that would really help tie things down as to which ones are having the issues. I also am aware you’re going to have some failures no matter what.

Just submitted my report. Thanks for the info. Waiting for the dealership diagnosis of what we already know. Will be interesting to see what their response is to the situation. In addition, unless a class action suite is filed, the attached limited warranty specifies what they will not cover…

Do I have your truck on the spreadsheet?

Yes. My info was passed on to you earlier. Thx for adding me
I’m wondering if I forgot and didn’t add you. Sometimes I get pretty busy during the day and forget to add new ones when I get back to my desk. Could I potentially have you under a different username?

I’m identified under line 170 of the spreadsheet and owe you a bit more info on the build and transmission #. Unfortunately, my truck is 4hrs away, but should be able to get that by weeks end.

Understood. Thanks for clarifying and I apologize for the confusion. I’ve handled so many of these trucks in the past four months I’m beginning to get a little confused lol

how have some folks been able to get some of this covered - I have seen some posts were a rental got covered - wonder who they had to call and what they said to get an exception

I have rental coverage on my truck, but I think that was because I got the extended warranty.

It took the dealer 4 weeks to get me a rental. You should contact ram cares to start a case. That's who you'll deal with to get payment reimbursement and I'm sure they can get a rental set up for you. They only gave us $40 a day which got us a corolla. I'm still currently dealing with them on payment reimbursement. They haven't responded in 8 days.

too the op im already on the tracking sheet i think i got u to add me in a different forum but i found myself on there- thank you!-

just a quick update its been 5 months my truck has been sitting at the dealer. i have gotten a rental half ton through the dealership but it took 3 months of fighting to get that

spoke with my case manager yesterday (4/4/2023) some of the parts for the tsb kit have arrived however the last of the tsb parts wont arrive until august is what the case manager told me….i purchased the damn thing nov 5 2022.

so at this point im taking legal action. i do not even want the truck at this point after 5 months of sitting the brakes, batteries are going to be shot and tires will likely have nice flat spots none of which will be covered by warranty of course. and speaking of warranty thatll be close to a year gone right off the top where it sat at the dealer collecting dust.

now in the interest of speeding the process up of having them buy this back -i was hoping fca customer care would be able to assist but all ive been able to get out of the case managers is a parroting of whatever the dealer tells them. i ask to escalate the situation and the answers i get imply the case manager is the highest level of customer assistance offered by fca. and all they are REALLY able to do is expedite parts that arent on backorder…

if anyone has any contacts above case manager that i could call id really appreciate the help i do have a lawyer on it but these things move about as fast as chrysler is and id like to stop the haemorrhaging before this gets out of hand. i just wanted a damn truck i thought buying new id save some headache ..LOL
