Came home after a weeks holiday, truck was left at home in above freezing temps. Unlocked my 21 Powerwagon with fob, attempted to start truck. Lights both interior and exterior illuminated. Would not start, (push button) could hear a loudish pop coming from the dash when button depressed. Tried to start by pushing button with fob. Would not start. After a couple attempts, alarm blasted, hazards went on but no start. Calling for roadside Monday morning being it is the weekend. Any ideas out there?

Did you try charging the batteries?

Check battery voltage?

These trucks seem really sensitive to low voltage. I suspect the computer prevents starting at some voltage value. And these factory batteries are poor quality. I will replace mine at the three year mark with AGMs just to avoid issues.

I had to replace the batteries after about 2 years on my 16 3500. Even with new batteries I found I need to either drive the truck about every 2-3 weeks to charge the batteries or slap a trickle charger on it. Not sure where the elec draw is coming from but it's significant enough to draw down a battery in about 3 weeks for me.

How would AGMs be any different assuming the same Ah rating?

Mopar battery issues are not unheard of. I didn’t have any problems with mine in my 21 but put an Optima Yellowtop in a few months ago for good measure.

Got my hand on Noco charger. Battery was the problem. Should a 1.5 year old battery with 13000km not hold a charge for 8 days?

They should, but it’s not uncommon they don’t.

My truck was just parked for 8 days and the batteries were at 12.3 before turning the ignition on. They should have been higher.

I generally put the truck on a NOCO Genius 5 when it will be parked more than 3 days.

how is that hooked up? just to one battery?

My batteries would not start the truck once after sitting for 10 days or so and the truck was not much more than a year old. I thought maybe I had left something on but it happened again a week or so later. I got a Noco Genius 2 and have no issues since and once this winter I forgot to start the truck for a month or so.

I have found that the NOCO 2 amp took forever to bring both batteries up to full charge. Replaced it with a 10 amp version. Also hook up the NOCO negative charge cable to the IBS battery sensor on the driver side battery. That way the truck's computer will take the charge current into account.IMG_1934 3.JPGIMG_1934 3.JPG
