Dealership Says They Won't Put Chrome Bumpers on a Custom Built Longhorn

Seems rather a-nal retentive. I am looking at ordering a custom factory built 2023 Longhorn. They have chrome bumpers all over the place at the assembly plant in Saltillo, Mexico. They build and are putting chrome bumpers on Laramies and Limiteds,... why not just grab a couple and bolt them on? How hard is that?

I tried to reason with the lady at Mark Dodge in Lake Charles, LA about this but got nowhere. All she said is I could swap out the bumpers, aftermarket. What? And then what do I do with a pair of red painted bumpers? Fooey. I'd like to get an email address of management in Saltillo because I bet I can manage to accomplish this. Anyone have any ideas as to how I can find an email address at the Saltillo Plant?

You will never get them to do something custom like that. If it ain’t on an order sheet it ain’t going to happen. You’ll just have to swap bumpers after you get if you want it that badly.

Getting an email address isn’t going to help you either.

I’m sure someone would be interested in swapping with you for color matched bumpers.

Lets see. Everyone that orders a truck is suddenly allowed any option/sub option change they want. What could go wrong?

The saying that "the customer is always right" is a good way to ensure your business will go out of business....

Never gonna happen OP. Maybe buy your truck and source chrome ones yourself.

When you get that let me know how I can get a night edition with a light interior

Ha-Ha! This is the best joke I've heard in some time.... Oh wait, not a joke?? Okay then. I think you might be on to something but no way an email or phone call will get it done. What I suggest you do is go to the Saltillo plant with a seriously large wad of $100 bills. Take the entire plant out for dinner and tequila - ensure they have a good time. (Hiring some dancing girls might help.....) Then once the entire plant is well plowed and happy, get them to agree to the chrome bumper swap on your unit in exchange for the large wad of bills.

Or, considering the difference in costs just swap them out once your unit is delivered.

Have yours acid stripped and chromed thats the cheapest option likely. You can not get what your asking it is not how it works this must be your first ordered vehicle. You can not just mix and match options that are not on the build sheet its not how it works…
Besides the chrome will look fuggly on the 2 tone truck

It's not as simple of a task as it sounds to you. They not only would have to put the grill on, but they'd have to change your build sheet, monroney label (window sticker), invoice, pricing, and all the other little behind the scenes paperwork and data entry.

It's not uncommon for shops to turn the chrome bumpers to color matched, probably wouldn't be hard finding a decent priced chrome bumper from someone who has done the opposite.

Parts are not just "all over the place." Parts are allocated to each VON/VIN as part of the build sequencing, that's what gets it to D2 status.

It's not "Custom factory built...", they're all factory built. It's a build to order using build order codes. There's no code to put chrome bumpers on a Limited Longhorn so it's not going to happen.

Good luck, It is hard enough just getting trucks built and shipped with standard offerings much less personal options....

Sorry to hear what you’re going thru Goose 55, it happened to me June of 21. Custom ordered a Limited Longhorn did a painted bumper delete (so I thought) an SHASHAM it appeared painted ! Almost didn’t want the truck, talked it out with salesman dealer an swapped out for CHROME BUMPERS ! There was a 600 dollar increase during build time which I paid an drove it off the lot !

Thanks for the visualization but it looks way better the way it rolled off the line. The chrome bumpers makes it look off like they were slapped on after a collision

Still 600$ is not bad for new bumpers

I like chrome but I’m not a fan of the chrome with the two tone. Different strokes for different folks.

Tu-Tone and chrome bumpers doesn't work like it did on the old D-trucks .
