My ‘01 short bed I can load the ATV in the bed and then hook up the TT and go. The new ‘23 short-bed is 6’4” (4” shorter) and it appears I will not be able to close the tailgate. Old truck is 6’8” bed and with the gate closed has about 1” clearance to the tires.
I see the gate removes relatively easy but I do not want to tow with gate open, in fact I will not. I bought the bed extender but thats not going to work with the gate off. I’m pretty sure the bike will sit in the bed fully and I bought new HD short straps to secure it but are there any other products out there worth looking at?

One thing you can try and i did with my old short bed is put a set of car ramps in the bed and drive the front tires of the 4wheeler up the ramps it gives you more clearance to close the tailgate

Just a bit nervous about the rear glass. Having learned this I probably would have been better off with the headache rack rather than the RamBar.
Interesting fix, thanks!!!

Plenty of clearance for the rear glass no need to worry

Come on Bo this is not a train track no need to fully send it....hahaahah jk headache rack is well worth the money.

In my old 07 Toyota Tundra CC, the bed was about as long as in my mega cab, I've not hauled my quad in it yet but what I've done with a Tundra, I've installed a toolbox up front (was slightly taller than the box rails) and made a few short aluminum ramps to drive the front wheels up and that allowed me to close the tailgate.
There's a product now on a market called ATV riser I believe, google it.

Here’s another option. My golf cart fit with the tailgate closed until I added the rear seat. Leaving the tailgate down was not going to work for me because of the clearance to my camper’s tongue jack. If I recall this tailgate support was about $60. They have a couple of different lengths available.
