Grid Heater RELAY Recall (new)

West Tennessee in Jackson.

I would just disconnect it and not worry about it being hooked up at all. It's unlikely you will get weather that necessitates the use of the grid heater before getting it fixed.

Thanks ,
Your talking about the positive terminal on the battery that leads down to the relay ....right.

Correct.

It's quite easy to disconnect/connect if you find yourself cold soaked below 10°F, just keep a 10mm in the truck. Much cheaper and easier than a switch.

Thanks..that's what I'm gonna do.
My RAM dealer is telling me they have not received the recall fix procedure yet. Is that what your hearing?

I haven’t talked to my dealer yet, but the Ram is going back and forth between telling me that no parts are available and that I don’t have an open recall.

We’re done with really cold weather for the winter so I disconnected mine last night.

Can't find it but didn't someone on another thread go to all the trouble to post a diagram and instructions on how to disconnect the Grid Heater for us lame asses ?

It's not rocket surgery. Open hood, remove plastic piece covering passenger side battery connection, disconnect the cable closest to the front, tie it off somewhere, done.

My truck is now sitting at the dealer (MD), held up by this recall. I haven't been given an official expectation of when parts will come in but they "unofficially" told me that they are expecting parts by the end of the month. That said, they're also not sure how many parts they'll get at once or if there will be limited weekly supply.

Anyone else have any intel?

@Brutal_HO - Maybe we could sticky this thread until the recall is underway?

I unhooked my cable over the weekend. No issues. Tired of the truck sitting outside in storms worrying about another big rogue hail storm rolling through. I know the odds of having a fire are very low, I just figure if I were ever going to hit the lottery, it would be on this issue. I'll sleep better now.

Five recalls done, in now for the tailgate & trans recall so that's seven; at least this one isn't listed for mine (yet).

Took mine in today for 4 total recalls including this one. I am on the waiting list for the new relay.

I have a really nice Megacab sitting on the dealer lot with this recall. Makes me wonder if I should keep my 2012.
