2023 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

What “wiring prep option w/o the switches” are you referring to?
The person you quoted was correctly explaining that you can’t have the trailer reverse steering control feature AND the aux switches concurrently. If the truck is not optioned with aux switches, then it won’t have any of the aux switch wiring, and there is no option to have the truck prepped for them.
Jimmy, there is a aux switch wiring option listed on the build site in the interior section for "$0". I assume this gives you through the firewall wiring with out the switches. Could be wrong though, knowing ram, could just be air

Isnt the upfitter module option the wiring without the switches?
Totally two different animals. To quote Stellantis:

“The Vehicle System Interface Module (VSIM) is specifically designed to make it easy to upfit RAM trucks. The VSIM has many hard wired inputs and outputs (through the VSIM jumper harnesses) . It also has J1939 communication bus output signals as well as input commands starting in 2019. The VSIM allows the upfitter turn on certain features or functions with hardwired or J1939 commands. It also a outputs signals and relay driver control circuits based on the vehicle information.”

In layman terms, it allows you to wire in huge amount (I believe 70) of different options. Think a police unit or construction unit. An example I can use was my 2018 Charger police unit. The center of the audio controls on the back of the steering wheel, when pressed, locked the transmission in park in case I had to bail from the unit while it was running. It also had been wired so that when activated, if there was movement to the rear of the vehicle and cameras picked it up, the windows would automatically close and all doors would lock, in addition to an audible alert. All of this was accomplished through the VSIM.

Probably more that you ever wanted to know, but there it is. If you want to read more about the different wiring options, here is everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask  :D:cool:

Picked my 2023 2500 Laramie Hemi Long Bed this past Thursday. Here is the picture from the dealer and I’ll upload more later. Glad I went over it before I signed off. The passenger side mirror doesn’t extend and the dealer has placed one on back order for me. Also, one of the doors had scratched leather so they replaced the entire door panel for me. They also tried to slide one past me and raise the price even though I had it in writing it was price locked.

Were you originally getting it below MSRP and they were raising it to that? Or were they trying to go above MSRP? Nice truck btw and congrats on the delivery.

I got it like 8-9% under MSRP. They raised the price $500. I think they were just trying to slip something small past me without me noticing. They tried to claim it was because I put 8K miles on my trade in since they appraised it 7 months ago, but their policy specifically states they guarantee the trade in value the day you lock in an order.

bad on them if they didnt have a mileage stipulation

My dealership refused to even offer me an estimated value for my trade in, just for that reason alone. Mileage goes up, value goes down, new offer isn't as high as the original quote. Get a pissed off customer. Unfortunately I don't have a price lock for my truck though. I went in expecting to be charged out the ass with the "Market Adjustment" so I was actually pretty content with paying MSRP since they said they don't do that. But with a 2500 MegaCab Laramie with most of the bells and whistles, it came out to like $93.5K MSRP. I'm fairly certain the wholesale is about $84-85k. Ram is also offering a $2k rebate for the 2500s. With all of that, what would be a decent negotiating price when it comes time to talk numbers with them?

I think that rebate is only for 2022 MY trucks.

That's the main reason I went with my dealer. Once I got it in writing they were guaranteeing the trade I was sold. Checked out what the trade in value would be today and its $2k less than what I got for it.

I ordered my 2023 ram 2500 bighorn 4x4 almost 2 weeks ago. Way up in Idaho. Now I'm trying to get the VON#, so I can track it. I didn't get the toggles, but I'm not sure what you mean by useless knob?

I didn't go with trade in. It seems like trade ins are way short ended to me.
When I fly up to pick my truck up, I'm going to drive it all the way back down to Texas.

The Limiteds with the new digital rearview mirror and tow package have a trailer reverse knob which helps with backing up a trailer, but not something to worry about with your trim.

A buddy of mine bought a 2021 longhorn with that new digital rear view mirror on his 3500 dually. He really likes it.
