Carli Suspension Issues in Snow County?

Stopped by a local Ram dealership yesterday to get quote on installing a set of Carli radius arm drops and 2.5" springs. The dealership is also the local dealer for AEV parts and trucks. The parts guy, who I have worked with for a couple years, highly suggested that I stay away from Carli's suspension parts that use any kind of heim joint. He said that he sees lots of issues with the road salt getting into the joints and causing issues. Anyone here that lives in snow country run into issues with Carli parts?

Not many of their parts have heims. I know they spec stainless shafts for their Kings shocks. I have friends that run Carli in snow country and they haven't had issues. Talk to George at 8 Lug Truck gear. He sells a lot of Carli and would know.

There is no merit to his statement at all. We ran heims on out jeeps for years no issues here in salty snowy canada

I'd imagine most suspension manufacturers use stainless steel right? Should last quite a while even through snow and salt if so.

Usually they are stainless or zinc plated so no issues with salt plus some have a seal on the ball to keep crap from getting in

OP if you are in an area where salt and rust is a problem, if you do take the suspension apart to have this installed its a perfect time to slather the anti-seize on the fasteners as well - that way the suspension will be serviceable in the coming years. I wouldn't go crazy on the threads cause it can really alter torque values but be sure to get the shank of the bolt and heim bore really good so they don't "become one".
