2023 HD Crowdsourced Order Tracking & Waiting Room

So my truck is "In Production" so I went to the Build sheet link and put in my VIN. It is listing the Tow-Mode Camera (WIRED) which I thought was not going to be available for 2023's.
It the build sheet accurate?

While most of us (myself included) had this option cancelled, it looks like there may have been a few that made it through. I've been watching this fairly closely and have seen two trucks that have this option listed on their sticker. Neither of those have been delivered yet, so I can't say for sure. But it's possible you may be one of the lucky ones that actually get a tow mode camera.

And as I've said to the others who have posted about this - if you get one and decide you don't want it, I'll buy it from you.

Yeah I was one of those who put it on my original order in Sept, then my dealer called me in Dec saying it was holding up by build and need to remove it. I gave them the go ahead to remove that option. It will be interesting to see if it shows up.

AND THE HITS JUST KEEP ON HITTING...UGH!

I just went to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website (https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls) and ran my VIN for my truck sitting at the outside vendor and --------------- wait for it --------------- it is affected by the latest heater grid relay recall! And according to the NHTSA recall, there is "...no remedy yet available."

New Safety Recall Advanced Communication–13AFCA US LLC (FCA US) has announced a safety recall on certain 2021 through2023ModelYear (DJ) Ram 2500 Pickup, (D2) Ram 3500 Pickup, (DD) Ram 3500 Cab Chassis, (DP) Ram 4500/5500 Cab Chassisvehicles equipped with a 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel Engine (salescode ETN, ETL, ETM).VINs identified as being involved in this campaign are currently live and searchable.Stop sale is in effect for the above-identified vehicles.Vehicles impacted by a stop sale are eligible for reimbursement allowance through the Recall Floorplan Reimbursement Policy (RFPRP), which can be requested upon recall claim submission.REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALLSome of the above vehicles can experience an engine compartment fire originating from the Generation1 solid state intake air grid heater relay. An electrical short in the relay can potentially lead to a vehicle fire with the ignition on or off. A vehicle fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and/or injury to persons outside the vehicle, as well as property damage.SERVICE ACTIONFCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected vehicles to replace the suspect relay.Customers are advised to not park these vehicles inside of buildings or structures, or near other vehicles until the vehicle has the final repair completed. The remedy for this condition is not currently available. Dealers will be notified of the launch of this safety recall by way of established communication methods. We ask that you please take the time to ensure that your personnel are aware of this communication and are prepared to execute a customer friendly process for inquiries regardinginvolved vehicles.Customer Services Field OperationsFCA USLLCIMPORTANT:Some of the involved vehicles may be in dealer new vehicle inventory. Federal law requires you to complete this recall service on these vehicles before retail delivery. Violation of this requirement by a dealer could result in a civil penalty of up to $21,000 per vehicle. Involved vehicles can be determined by using the VIP inquiry process.
how worried should i be of this i have an appointment with dealer on march 4th for this and for my uconnect box error message.

should i not drive the truck till then?

also if anyone knows how to disconnect power to the relay let me know id rather deal with a check engine light than a fire under my hood

That depends on your risk tolerance. While there is a recommendation to park outside until this has been corrected, (according to the document you linked) the plan is to start owner notifications on or about March 31. So most owners won't even know about this for another 1.5 months. Additionally, it looks like this can occur with the ignition on or off. So it probably doesn't matter if you drive the truck or not.

There is some discussion on power disconnection with pictures on this thread: https://hdrams.com/forum/index.php?threads/grid-heater-recall.13359/

It looks like the "fix" is a new internally fused relay (Generation 2). Use of the faulty relay ended on February 1, 2023. Vehicles produced after this date are not subject to the recall.

I tried to locate a similar question, but to no avail. I ordered a 3500 Laramie Mega 6.4, It went into production on 1/24, built as of 2/14. Dealer says status is KZLD (transit-delayed). Is this due to the train issues everyone is talking about. VON#57468819. Thanks.

Mine was KZLD for 9 days I do believe it was waiting on a train ride

Mine was in final inspection on 2/17 not sure when I can look up the VIN

edit:
I went to the FCA recall web site and put in my VIN, it came back with no recalls. Now I don’t know how that web site works so not sure of the accuracy

So if I read this right any SO/HO trucks built after Feb 1st are not affected.

That's my interpretation. Use of the faulty relay ended on February 1, 2023. Vehicles that began production after this date should not be subject to the recall. Since yours began production on 2/15, it should be in the clear. Mine was started on 2/4 and is showing that it is also not part of this recall.

The fix is replacing the faulty relay with "a new internally fused relay (Generation 2)".

According to ram tracker, mine went "in production" on 1/30 and then was "built " on 2/3 and the recall VIN lookup says its "affected ".
The day you went into production is basically the day it was built. The day it says built is the day that any outside vendor stuff (as in bed liner, steps, bed cover) were completed.

I’m enjoying your stats!

SAMBROS 1/19 (wrong order) got scheduled on 2/16!
It’s a 3500 Tradesman HO SRW long bed silver. I hadn’t seen many HO go through in a while.

I’m praying SAMBROS 1/27 (correct order!!!) gets scheduled soon and makes it on the same train as the first one to Albuquerque. The dealer did not put the rear air ride and the 50 gallon tank on the first one. Oops!

Someone over torqued a spark plug on our 2016 and the whole engine is trash as of 1/20. TBD still on timing for that mess. We need a truck to do truck things ASAP!
