Engine light because of after market air filter? 2020 2500 diesel

There’s several options, but if you’re working with just one VIN only, you can get by with $40/month for wiTECH 2.0, then you need at least a 3 day $37 techauthority subscription to flash.
 
Anybody know if the engine light goes off by itself after the appropriate fix has been done? I replaced the air filter with a Mopar as told by the dealer but the engine light is still on. It seems that talking to a service tech is like trying to talk to the president. I've only driven it once since changing the filter.
 
I bought a brand new K&N filter and as soon as I installed it, Check engine light came on. I cleared it with my scanner, but it kept coming back on. I put in the old dirty filter
back in just to see what happened, and check engine light did not come back on after clearing it.
I bought a brand new paper filter from Orielly's, and light has not come back on. It did not like the K&N.
 
Thanks for the info. So you have to have a scanner to clear the engine light? I've heard some say it clears itself after a few driving cycles.

That's because it knew you got a K&N and it didn't want to be fed a steady diet of dirt, so it threw the code!

Be happy it threw a code, the K&N filters are not known to be turbo friendly.

Stick with OEM filters.

yes, it’s happened to me before . i spent $150 to fix engine light problem in dealership, but the light came back later in . then few months later , when i replaced my air filter in dealership, they told me the air filter coz that engine light on . i have no issue so far .
 
Thanks for the response. I'm still waiting for the engine light to go off. I don't drive the truck much. The dealership is horrible...terrible communication. I can't get a simple answer about the engine light reset without driving over there.
