My new to me 2020 Ram 2500

Hey Crimecruncher, Welcome--I just bought a 2020 HD too. I traded a GMC Canyon diesel for this Big Horn Crew Cab with 28K miles-just joined this forum a few minutes ago. I purchased from a dealership in the Tri Cities, WA last week which is about 150 miles south of where I live--got 24 mpg going home which pleasantly surprised me. It had a BW 5th wheel under-bed bracket on it (so hole in the middle of the bed with chain brackets) and it had Jet Stream luggage racks mounted across the bed box (have no idea why they were mounted/bolted these to the bed rails but suppose they left them on because they were cross threaded on). Otherwise the truck is clean with no other body damage just the original Firestone Transforce AT tires that need replacing soon. I know a tire
brand I won't be putting on this truck!

So far I took off the luggage racks with a hammer drill, plugged the bed hole with a BW puck plug, and installed a rubber mat which hides the 5th wheel remains. The holes drilled in the side rails by the previous owner were on the inside so they are completely covered by a new Revolver Tonneau cover and I plugged the stake pocket hole as well. Put in a tailgate seal kit. I installed my Vava dash cam and back cam from my old truck--a direct connection to the back window switched circuit and ground to the metal cab roof in the overhead console. I also ran an additional switched wire out into the mirror box for a future device as long as I had the overhead console dropped. I was a little surprised to learn that the Ram HD does not have a cab fuse box but actually the overhead console was easier than running wire across the headliner and down the A pillar to a fuse box. I don't have a separate fuse but don't expect any issue on that heavy circuit.

My immediate plans are to plug the manufacture drain holes bed box and chalk the corners of my tonneau cover to make it more waterproof. I have also ordered Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3 tires from Costco which get installed on the 20th. I have Huskie front floor mats on my Christmas list.

Hope you enjoy your 2020 Ram--look forward to sharing, learning about mods and fixes on this forum going forward.

Chuck754, did you get the revo 3s installed? How do you like? Thanks

I love the Revos 3. They are quiet and drive well. The only issue is Costco will put in 80lbs in the rear tires based on maximum manufacture payload. For a HD that isn’t hauling the max it’s grossly over inflated. Instead of arguing with them I simply adjusted to 65lbs all around.
