I changed my front and rear fuel filters today. Have done it many times. But today when I primed the fuel and started it, it died after maybe 5 seconds and will not start. Checked rear all tight , no leaks, checked front no leaks. Took of front cap, no fuel in canisiter. Took out filter looks fine . Put back. Went to rear to see if it was getting fuel. Turned drain, fuel came out. Tried to prime again. Still no start. Checked for fuel,.still none in front canister. Did I get a bad filter? I need to truck to move my 5th wheel . Please help.

Are you using OEM filters? Did you put a new oring on the front canister and are you sure it is sealing good?

Have you pulled the rear filter? The blockage is probably there.

Your definitely sucking air, did you double up a gasket or one isn't seated correctly or something.

The entire system is pressurized from the tank to the engine, so it wouldn’t suck air it would leak.

No leaks. Double checked all gaskets when I went back through everything.

Just a thought, would this issue have anything to do with the water sensor on the rear filter? It did fall in the fuel when I removed the rear filter. But that has happened before and I didnt have any issues. I have always changed my own fuel filters since I got my truck brand new is Aug 2016. So I am at a loss unless I got a faulty front filter. I have always used Mopar except 1 time and the filters were not qualiity. So I have always paid extra for Mopar. Has anyone tried Wix? Or is Mopar still the best? Will have another front filter later today.

You posted in 4th gen.

it's pre 19 CP3?

"Prime", are you cycling the key 4-5 times without trying to start?

Changed both filters. The rear filter is getting fuel. The front filter is dry.

That means fuel isn’t leaving the rear filter, figure out what’s going on at the rear filter. Make sure there isn’t some wrapper or something foreign in the filter outlet. I’d be more likely to believe something foreign blocking fuel vs a bad filter not flowing.

The flow of fuel is outside to inside.

Likely not related to the sensor.

Stay away from wix fuel filters, stick with OEM.

You are hearing the lift pump in the tank run, correct?

I pulled the rear again and no blockage. UGH!

Just on the front?

The rear one first.

The filters flow outside to inside, so if there isn't any fuel in the front canister outside the filter the fuel isn't getting there.

If no blockage on the rear, should I try to prime it longer than usual? Without trying to start. Like 6 times.turn on for 15.seconds, off for 10 seconds?
