2019 RAM 2500 -- Water Accumulation in Hood Panel

I opened my 2019 RAM 2500 Diesel hood the other day and noticed a lot of water exiting from the hood panel near the hinges. Some blogs suggested that the water was entering the hood at the emblems but apparently there are insufficient weep holes to allow the water to drain. Suggestions included removal and sealing of the emblem (dealer suggested that this might be difficult), or drilling a weep hole in the underside of the hood, with the caution to not drill through the hood. Any suggestions on fixing this design problem or where the low point is for the drilled hole.

Have yet to address this with my truck. I would think that removing the emblems, adding a small bead of silicone around the emblems, and carefully reinstalling them is probably the ticket. Haven't looked at drilling a drain hole yet, but make sure you add a paint protector spray to guard against rust if you do so.

One key item, installing the emblems in a bit of a rocking motion. Here is a comment I posted to CJCs video on doing the night edition swap as I struggled with this initially.

Note on installing the hood badges. Unless you get exceedingly lucky the badges don't press right in like shown. One of the short edges (towards the rear on the driver side, front on passenger side) had a clip that is meant to be seated not snapped. In order for them to seat fully you need to find that specific clip (it's different than the others in that it's not "free floating") start to seat that in the hole and press that side in and press toward the direction the clip needs to seat then snap the others in. It is similar to a hinge motion but not quite as drastic.

There's a TSB listed in the TSB thread

Yep....TSB....had it applied to my 2020 2500 4x4 Hemi about last September or October. They ordered new emblems for the hood. Seems to fix the problem.

Hi, Thanks for the info. I hunted around the site but did not see a TSB on the Hood. Do you have a direct link to the TSB.

It is a sticky at the top of the thread under TSBs.
Here is a direct link for you...

Thanks for the help Gondul! Looks like the repair is replacement of the emblem. I assume that the repair will be on me if the vehicle is no longer under warranty. Is that your read?

Typically yes, but it really depends on the dealer and your relationship with them.
I brought my out of warranty truck for a TSB on the emergency braking and they didn't charge me.
