Thinking about moving from a 1/2 to 3/4 truck with a crew cab, but need a flat back seat area for a golden retriever.
Suggestions?

I’ve had the fold flat floors in previous crew cabs which worked fine for 1-2 dogs, but they still got cramped at times. Made the move to the mega cab, and now can’t imagine being happy with any other cab configuration. The fold flat back seats are amazing.

Pondered this for awhile but have not pulled the trigger.
This was from searching "ram rear seat delete".
May be other companies offering similar.

I believe its an option, so make sure its present before purchase. When the fold flat floor system was introduced, it was made from metal, in 07 they changed to plastic. Its still a good system but the weight capacity is less. I ordered my 07 C&C to have the same system as my 04, which required a certain level of seating to include it. Freaking Dodge deleted it during its build and claimed they have the right to delete anything during build, if you don't like it then you don't have to buy it, I should have refused it. So I wanted to purchase it from the parts department, freaking $1200.00 for the system. Because it was a C&C ordered with luxury, you couldn't find them on the lots due to it being a work truck. So I agreed to the purchase and found the fold flat floor system on eBay for $150.00, that the owner needed room for his woofer system. So you need to confirm its there before you purchase. My 2019 has the fold flat floor system, but its plastic, but it still works great.

BTW welcome to the forum, you'll find lots of info here, and the members are good people.

What brand are the door covers and the seat/floor cover?

I made this in the back for my dog. Plywood base with carpet top. Works very well and easy to take in and out.

I’ve had these for about 10 years, using a handful of times per year. They work fine for what they are, but you can’t roll your windows up and down as they sit in between the window and inner window seal.

Thanks

When the back seats of a mega cab are laid down its like a double bed.

Did you have to do that making me regret not getting a megacab? I went from a 1500 to a 2500 Crew and lost a surprising amount of space for the dogs... 1500 Great, 2500 Crew, not so much for big dogs.

Agree, that's why we went mega cab, kids  and the dog fit in the backseat when traveling (the reclining back seats are key), and with no live cargo it's like an enclosed shortbed back there. Only problem is you can't get a longbed with a mega, but it's hard enough to u-turn or fit all the way into a parking space now so I can't think the extra foot and some change would help.

I will be doing the same as @adamsmith655 (his photos attached) but I will be removing the rear seat completely so will gain a lot more space like the goose gear set up but a lot cheaper, just plywood and carpet. I would get the goose gear but I would end up padding it anyway as it somewhat slippery for dogs.

2 photos by @adamsmith655 thank you, great looking dog!

I have done similar in other vehicles, here is my Wrangler 2 door JK, rear seat removed. I prefer to use ¾" plywood or MDF. I think thinner allows too much flex and bounce and allows for some leeway when you can't quite get a support underneath everywhere its needed.

And finally here is a great product you can find at Home Depot, (used in Jeep above) very durable, easy clean, indoor/outdoor low pile but still very grippy for paws and it performs very well wrapping around edges and stapling or glueing, flexible yet strong. If you've tried full pile carpet for an upholstery project like this you'll know what I mean, it doesn't wrap as well for a finished look on the edges. The available upholstery carpet you commonly find at auto parts stores and amazon does not hold up to dog nails and is almost impossible to clean.
