I just got my truck in last week and immediately needed some studded tires to get ready for winter. I was a little surprised that my go to dedicated brands Nokian and Hankook didn't make a winter tires in the 20" size for our trucks.

I've used Goodyear Duratrac's before year around, but never studded. I ordered up a set from Tire Rack and had them installed as am very pleased.

Thought I'd share for guy looking for a good winter tires. Now I just need to figure out what to do in the spring...

I have a neighbor who studs his tires. Not many do around here, it always is a head turner when he drives by in dry pavement, that “what’s that noise” catches me off guard haha

Duratracs aren’t a true snow tire - lacking the softer compound and super biting edges of a winter tire but studding them will definitely lend an advantage on ice.

I’ve got a set of studded Cooper Discoverer Snow Claw LT tires on my PW and it’s truly cheating in the winter. They just went on today in fact!

Duratracs are great in the winter though expecially when plowing

I do agree I think the Duratrac is probably the best snow rated AT tire out there - at least that I’ve had. The General Grabber AT/X is also very good and also studdable.

The thing I never liked was the Duratrac never was great in wet traction. Had a set on my 02 WJ and my PW and when it rained out it seemed they just spun more than they should.

They have the bonus of being an awesome looking tire too

I couldn't find an E rated 285/60R20 that was a dedicated, studded winter tire. If I can find one, I'll just yank the studs out of the DuraTracs and make them my summer tires which would be ideal for me.

Yes that is a disadvantage. The Cooper was the only option I could find in the PW stock size of 285/70R17 E. I wish more manufacturers would produce larger size winter tires because I think there is a serious market for them.

I think the Snow Claws are discontinued now.

Pick my winter tires up a month ago. Truck ready for winter. Snow going to be here next week. Also had the truck rust checked ready for it first winter up here in Canada.

You lucky dog! I love the the Winterforce tires studded! They don't make them in the PW size but I had a set on a 2wd 86 Toyota pickup and with some weight in the back it was unstoppable in the snow! Great tire

It take the stress out of driving on black ice.
The best part the tpsm don't need to be rest when you change over the tires. Took the truck for a ride down the street it sensed the new tire pressures right away.

Thank very quiet also

“Winter tires” is such a foreign language to us in the south. Just came here to look and learn
Sometimes I envy you. As much as I love driving in the snow it would be nice to just have one set of big sexy tires to run year round. Winter tires squirm so much too - soft compound and lots of siping - doesn't bode well for handling under a 7k pound truck... Oh well.
