U Connect 5 Radio Presets Keep Disappearing

My truck is in the same boat.

Not sure if it's related or not, but it never seems to load the phone the same two times in a row. Sometimes it won't connect, sometimes it goes to bluetooth mode, sometimes it goes to CarPlay. Two weekends ago I had to forget and reconnect the phone every time I started the truck for it to connect at all for two days with lots of starts and stops.

Just some food for thought....

Bought a 2021 Dodge Durango Citadel and had Uconnect issues (plenty of them). Eventually they solved it with an update. I presented all my issues after the fact with time/dated pictures of each problem. I asked for (actually demanded) compensation for my troubles and was given 2 years of free oil changes at the dealership for my Durango.

So I am doing the exact same thing this time. I take a photo each time the radio presets disappear and I call Uconnect customer service and have them document EACH time I have this issue. I'm currently on 17 photos with 17 phone calls.

Precedence has already been set with my other vehicle. But if I get 2 or 3 free oil changes it will be worth my time.

Another FYI for those that still have issues..

I just received a call from FCA regarding the preset issue and the complaints I have filed with them. I was just given a 3yr maintenance contract (oil change and tire rotation) for FREE. They did say the resolution is being worked on but has not been completed.

I can say that FCA (Stellantis) customer service has treated me right,

My issues continue as well. I have had times where they stick for up to a week and other days where they literally reset every start.

I have also noticed that the clock will randomly appear and disappear on my display along similar time frames as the presets.

My Android auto constantly disconnects in certain areas and I have had the whole system crash and go black a few times.

It has been extremely frustrating, especially considering I never had an issue with my last two Rams (2013, 2020).

My presets disappeared 1-2 times a day until this last Saturday when all my XM presets were exchanged with random FM presets, I never use fm or am. I replaced all but 1 fm preset with my xm presets and it has been ok for 4 days now and about 20 start cycles.

Another issue now is the home screen will not show recent calls anymore. I can go to recent calls under android auto and they show, but on the home widget, they flash in for a second on start, then blank.
Are you sure this is not an SXM issue? I have had this happen on the Harley after a flash or random update on more than one occasion. It also happened in my 2021 2500 not yet on 2022 3500. The more complex the more ways to fail. Hardware issue, software issue, phone issue, compatibility issue, settings, different chip supplier or manufacturer ?? They will fix it or not. The issue has been discussed here for a long time without resolution. Will wait patiently keep trying, resetting everything, hopefully without making problem worse.

Bought my first ever Ram ( 2500 Laramie) and I have the same issue as others, preset’s disappearing and theme going back to default. It’s extremely frustrating to have such a beautiful truck with issues from day one, especially for what they cost.

Since this issue has been prevalent since the rollout of UConnct-5, I am of the opinion that Stellantis is NOT interested in fixing it. This type of coding is not rocket science. I'm not a software engineer, but I worked for companies that employed hundreds of developers and am sure these preset bugs in UConnect-5 would have been flushed out months ago. Its a matter of desire. Just making a wild guess here, but I think this preset issue is on the back burner - probably never to be dealt with - because Stellantis has turned its efforts to more esoteric AI self-driving garbage. To them this preset issue, and those of use complaining about it, is just a fly buzzing around their face. They just keep brushing it away and ignoring it.

I sure hope you’re wrong. I have driven FORD’s for over 30 years, and loved the Powerstroke. I wanted to try a Cummins, but if this issue isn’t ever fixed by the time I trade, no matter how much I will potentially like this truck, it will be on my mind.

I drove Ford diesels for many years also until the 6.0, which was junk, and Ford did not stand behind it. When it finally locked up, after thousands in repairs and weeks in the shop, I called the Ram dealer and told him to pick it up. I have been a solid Ram backer ever since and have had minimal problems after 4 Ram HD diesels including my new 3500 DRW LL and more than 400K miles.

Just picked up my 22 3500 a week ago. Running around town today and on the 2nd or 3rd start up, all XM presets are gone. Not a good start for this $86k truck. Had zero issues with my 2018.

Too early to worry, probably still updating. If it happens after done setting everything up then maybe significant. Had mine for 2 months and did reset once early on when still tinkering but not since.

Since I had the rear camera/radio recall done in June, I’ve had zero (0) issues with mine.

Received my truck Aug 17th 2500 cummings Laramie 12 inch screen. Haven't had any issues with the presets yet. Google maps loses signal which is annoying. I told the dealer before I picked up my truck to make sure radio was updated.

well, I have a '22 2500 and the only issue I am having is the wireless carplay not always connecting to the phone.
Sometimes the "options" are unchecked and it does not work. I have to go in and choose what services to enable.
If I use the wired option, everything seems to work well enough.

Frustrating.

I've had my 22 limited for 4 months and 4500 miles. Screen gone black many times from week 1. Phone looses connection wired or Bluetooth. Android or iPhone. Star case in progress.
The uconnect screen was replaced last week after 5 trips to dealer. This week the screen blacked out 3 times. Now that it's 30-40 degrees, being able to control where the heat goes is important. No connection for audio control is annoying but the cameras are missed when backing at night. My 2021 had no issues but paying 91 k for a truck with hvac control refered as an (feature) is one hell of a anti sales tactic. Same thing of inconveniencing the buyer to throw parts at a soft ware issue. Hopefully this update will be the fix.

UPDATE HIT! HUGE MISS!! Same issues with loosing connection via BT or cable. Screen has been black twice in 5 days. Now looking at a 16 hour drive each way in 3 weeks and the nav and music cuts off randomly every few minutes. I need to sell this and buy a 2021 again. Why can't this be downgraded until they work out the issue?

Join the crowd. UConnect 5 has been a classic case of 'roll out the product and fix it later' crap. Stellantis doesn't seem to be worried in the least, though, due to the lack of ANY demonstrable major fix update this entire year. Zero, nadda, goose egg, blah blah. Early in the year, Stellantis patted us all on the head ensuring us to be patient, that a MAJOR code update was going to be dropped in the March/April time frame - an update that ended up being about as wimpy as the red wave. Don't hold your breath.

My issue is still on going. I took the truck to the dealer at 1 month old and they did some sort of reset . it worked for about a month then lost the presets. (whic tells me the reset did nothing) It continues to loose its presets randomly on both Sirius and AM/Fm. sometimes just one of them and sometimes both. It sucks having a 70K truck that I can not use the radio reliably. totally unacceptable and would not have purchased a RAM if I saw this thread 1st. Customer service has not contacted me back about my case I opened for the issue. JUST KNOW THAT if you purchase a new RAM, Your radio presets will not work and at least once a week you get in the truck and have no presets.

I have been fighting this issue with losing presets for over a year. I have a 2022 3500 Laramie. My truck has been into the dealership 8 times and they replaced the radio once. Nothing has helped! The Uconnect 5 system is full of bugs, the software needs to be totally re-written. This is an engineering problem and is very frustrating to say the least. I have lost time and money dealing with the terrible software issue.
I talked to the service manager and his new 2022 truck has the same problem and runs nationwide. The Ram truck division needs to clean house on the engineering department. The managers says this a total black eye on Ram trucks. To this day I'm still waiting on a new software update, so who knows? Can't believe you spend $70,000 on a new truck and the radio doesn't work? Wow!

I never responded back to RamCares since I know there is no fix for this.
