This may or may not apply to the 2500/3500's, but at least on a 5500 they have replaced A69 Limited Level 1 with A79 Limited Level A. The following appears to have been removed:

CHMSL Lamp with camera (LPD)
Surround View Camera System (XAK)
Trailer Reverse Guidance (XPU)
Digital Rearview Mirror (GRG)

So all of the cameras, all of the surround options, gone. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same changes with the Laramie level F package as well.

I honestly don't know what to say.

This is insane… I thought that we would be mostly past the chip shortage. It seems as if we’ve entered the next level. I would assume for the 3500 laramie it’s very similar as they changed that as well. Those are mainly the only real additional options I wanted on the truck. So I will be waiting a few months to even order it seems.

Exactly, Price is going up while options are going down. Sounds like a profitable move on Rams part........

.
Every company is doing the same its not surprising abd the “shortages” dont make sense. This is a financial collapse its going to be equal or most likely worse than 08.

FWIW, they dropped the MSRP $800 on level A when dropping all of the cameras from level 1.

Not a worthwhile compromise, but it's something.

The shortages make total sense. Many cities in China where the vast majority of these chips come from have a “zero COVID” policing. Any positive cases cause the entire city to shut down, including the factories.

There’s a big push to increase domestic chip manufacturing, but unfortunately it’s going to take years to build the complex fabs required.

Or maybe they just didn't sell many of those for the 5500's. I know I chose not to have most of them on my 3500 CC. Once I had the bed installed, I added the backup camera and had the system flashed.

New Slogan:

“RAM, charging more for less.”
That’s their slogan for the EV heavy duties lol

Correct me if I am wrong but If you order the rig right when orders open up you can get these option before their allotment dries up.

Maybe. Or since we haven't gotten to job 1 and no one has gone to D/D1 maybe all the orders with cameras will get kicked back to BE before November. Who knows at this point.

Builds are never scheduled in the order they're received.

you keep believing that. There are thousands of other products that dont have chips in them and are claiming shortages that started long before the scamdemic and they are domestically made in the USA… its a production and labour issue not a supply issue for most things.

Keep believing what? I’m talking strictly about the chip shortages. What benefit to anyone would come from some grand conspiracy to pretend the chips actually exist?

Shout out to Callie at @RamCares - she was able to get a solid answer on what is going on with Limited Level 1 / Level A and the cameras. She said there is a quality issue with the mirrors that have the cameras that is specific to the chassis cabs, so on the chassis cabs only the A79 (Level A) package with no cameras was created while that is worked out. It doesn't affect the 2500/3500's, you can still get A69 (Level 1) with the cameras on the normal trucks.

So it's not a shortage issue, but some quality issue - given the main difference between the normal trucks and the chassis cabs in this regard is the chassis cabs only have 270 degree surround, that feels like a software bug but I am totally speculating here.

I'm going to hold out for A69 to return, and this gives me some hope that it will. I'm also very glad that Ram can get real answers to us, on an enthusiast's forum no less - a far cry better than trying to get answers from Dodge/Ram in the past in my experience.

You and I are in the same boat. If I'm gonna be dropping this much on a truck, it'll be for 100% of what I want and not 95%

@brv10 Might be a long shot, but do you have any insight into when the surround view might be available to order on the chassis cabs again? I guess there is a quality issue with the GT3/GT4 mirrors on the chassis cabs only, so A69 isn't available at the moment.
