Will I be disappointed in 22 3500 coming from a F350 Powerstoke?

My truck is tuned by calibrated power. It's definitely a lot better than stock but the truck still feels sluggish compared to a stock Superduty. My truck tuned with a pedal monster feels like my neighbors stock f350 tremor. That truck is just fun to drive. I'm not brand specific and will buy the truck I like best at the time, which has been three rams. An 07.5, 15 HO and now my 21 HO.

Man you aren’t helping . You have a tuned HO and still feel like the stock F350 is superior?
I may just need to keep my current 19 F350. Upgrade the lighting (stock halogen is abysmal) and maybe add the EZ Link to it for some added fun. Other than the tech stuff in the interior, seems like I’m paying way more for less truck with the Ram 3500.

In my area, southeast, if you tow, Ram is dominant. At horse competitions, out of 10 trucks, 6 will be Ram, 3 Ford, and 1 Duramax. Same in the campgrounds. If you don't regularly tow heavy, then the Ford is more fun, but the Cummins is the best tow beast out there.
This is the exact same thing I see at the campgrounds in the Northeast.

Honestly I'd just keep your 19'. The vehicle market is absurd at the moment and no way I'd pay those prices unless it was an absolute necessity. Not going to lie though, a F250/350 Tremor is high on my list for my next truck (when ever that may be). I've got no brand loyalty, I've owned them all.

Don't get me wrong, the ram will tow for sure. Also for me when I drove both, the 10r140 was night and day from the 6r140. My neighbors Super duty with the 10r140 is doing almost two mpg better than my ram on the same trips. At 75mph, I'm turning about 1850 rpm while he was doing around 1650 with the 355. The 331 looks to be closer to 1540 according to charts. The 10speed really makes a difference with the lower final ratio. I really do like my ram, I just think Ford did a better job for the new 23my. If my truck was only a tow rig, then the ram would be it but it's my daily driver too. So I'd like a truck a little more well rounded with unloaded driving. All three of my rams have been pretty reliable.

I appreciate the info. This is helpful as this truck will be my daily driver as well.

Buying a truck for speed is silly. With modifications one can make as much power as they want.

Not sure how people could stand driving a 10 speed.
People want a 10 speed in the Cummins but it’s redline is 3000 rpm vs the strokes 4000 rpm. The 6 is just fine.

Having driven a 10 speed expedition max, yea it’s a gasser, for 2200 miles on a long road trip with hours of city driving, I can say I very much disliked how it drove. Need to gain speed quickly, we’ll when it’s shifting from 10th gear to 3rd there is a large delay. It also short shifts a ton.

Our medic/aid cars have the 2022 10 speed 6.7 diesel and the tranny shifting is hideous. Short shifts, doesn’t hold the propper gears. Down shifts instead of pulling the needed gear and bam!, 40 psi boost throwing you back into your seat launching the rig.

Drive one, before you decide to get it just based on “feel” or stats.

6-8 speed is all a diesel should have.

Sure you can eek out an mpg or two but that depends on too many factors that warrant another discussion.

Again, you can make anything fast and you know darn well the Cummins is de tuned.

Inline 6 has a longer torque curve than a V 8 that is why about 100% of class 8 trucks have an inline 6 . Also 25% less components than an 8 . Go on the ford forums and you will see 10 Spd issues also. The Aisin is a very good tranny. Ford and Chevy need all those gears to keep the 8 in the smaller torque curve . The Cummins engine went thru major upgrades to be able to handle the additional power . I have owned Dodges with Cummins engines since 94 and have never spent a dime on engine related repairs . Just compare the pistons between the two engines , huge difference and no V8 made has an exhaust brake that works as well . Of course my opinion is biased based on my experience .

Ive been stewing on this all day. After going back and forth many times, Ive decided to proceed with the Dodge. Ive been wanting to try a Dodge for a good while. They are paying me more for my trade than what I paid for it new in 2019. Also, my truck is just an XLT and Ive been wanting the Longhorn for a while. I love the nicer interior and all the tech of the Ram. This Ford was a truck I bought out of need when I first started a land management business and I needed the F350 to tow the equipment and larger trailer. I just got an XLT because it was going to be worked in a lot. Im hoping that some tuning for the '22 will become available soon and that will help with the performance issues some that Im losing with the Ford. They are selling me the truck (new, zero miles) $4500 below MSRP, which no other dealer has come close to within 500 miles of me. They are also delivering it to me from 7hrs away. I will have tons of equity in the truck so if I just hate it all together, I will have no issues getting out of it and going back to a Ford. This Ram itch just needs to be scratched. I may regret it, but it'll be a lesson learned. Im sure I will have lots more questions as I begin to add/change things, so I appreciate all the help.

If you are looking for a tune look no further than https://www.stealthmodules.com/ they have the tuning for the 22 HD Rams, it should get rid of turbo lag and add around 50hp and 150ft/t.

If you are not happy with the acceleration get a pedal monster super easy install and your rig will definitely roll on track !

Stealthy overstates their power by a factor of 2. It's a sh*t fueling box that fiddles the torque curve some, nothing more. It doesn't raise trans line pressures like any good tune will - through it doesn't really matter given their over zealous power claims.

You will enjoy the Ram, and especially the interior. Just change you driving mentality from 60's muscle car, to big cruiser that can tow anything strapped to it.

Have you monitored EGTs or used a real tuner before?
I was monitoring EGT on class 8 trucks since 78 . In modern electronic engines they did away with the gauge as the computer will prevent the EGs from destroying the engine . With a tuner I imagine you may want too . The truck is fast and powerful enough for me as is .It wasn't too many years ago you would've had to spend serious money to get the power that is in a stock engine of today .
