2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

@brv10 Good afternoon @brv10. Could you please tell me where my truck is and why it's delayed, if possible? It shipped out of Saltillo Sep 17. Thank you in advance!!! Vin # 3C63RRJL9NG316085 VON 54568174 Working on navigating the forum. Sorry if this is a duplicate!

Dealer called and left a message. Said it’s at the rail yard eta October 17-28 but that could change.
I just got finished watching a video on trains trying to figure out why it takes a train a month to go what takes a car 16 hours. Truly fascinating. To get a RAM from TX to the east coast they have to hand off to CSX. You would think this would be simple. Its not. Coming from Mexico every single rail car is opened and inspected in Eagle Pass TX. Then a train is built. If its going east Union Pacific has to detach the car and leave in on a transfer rail for CSX to pickup. THis Transfer can take up to 6 days, due to all the moved that a locamotive has to make to pick up the rail car. Honestly after seeing how they move freight, I dont see how anything gets anywhere. It looks like a big freaking mess just being moved between rails and yards. Im assuming that the date range is due to not knowing how many times the rail car will have to be moved from one train to another and the fact that each move can take up to 6 days.

The shipping by train is actually right on the money for the times I see once it leaves Mexico, it's the first move and the truck yard that are the big hold ups, but the times might account for the train switch

One the subject of trains, my dealer called me yesterday to tell me that my truck had finally shipped (4 days after I'd figured that out thru the lovely resources I found here). Unsurprisingly after being on this thread for any length of time, they barely waited an hour to inform me that they were knocking $4k off my trade in value. Sharing this news with a few friends who've been following my 6+ month order adventure, one mentioned that the hurricane might actually have a positive impact on those of us still waiting on our new Rams. I found this video discussing how all the totaled cars in FL might jack used car values back up.

Thoughts?

Wow nice! Iam in the same boat. I presumed i was locked in being i had signed paperwork and financing approved. Dealer said “values have changed” but will be very close to your quoted payment. Ya iam sure.

Tough to go on “itll be close”, iam kzld right now waiting for a train to canada. I can only imagine ill have to bend over further before truck gets to me.

This is my biggest problem with ordering right now…. How in gods name does one make an informed decision on a 100k truck purchase when the trade in value is subject to so much change due to rams build timelines. With experience when things were 3 month turn arounds i DID have locked numbers.

Whos problem should it be? Rams? Or ours? I feel were getting relatively shafted on both ends… over priced trucks, and then dealers attempting to extract every cent from a deal. And likely could care less about youre need to attain a price point you are comfortable with

you are right. Dealers will push the payments out to 120 months to hit the right monthly payment. Reason...cause buyers negotiate payment NOT purchase price. When they start that crap I walk. I plan on shopping my truck around the week before the new one shows up. Im gonna list it on auto trader as well. If they pull that crap with me, I just gonna tell them I'm keeping my truck and will sell it myself. They need the trades and soon enough, with intrest rates going up, the average person will not qualify for a loan. Bank are already pulling back due ot repos and the fed is gonna increase again here real soon.

Ordered 10-12-2021 built 8-8-2022 ship date was 8-17-2022 has been in Midlothian, TX since and the say it will be there for at least another month. Dealer is no help"be patient, and then ask if I want to cancel my order." The Auto park in Texas says dealer or zone rep needs to make a "sold hot unit" submission. HELP!!!!! Ng377760

See iam in a tough spot because i agree with you 100% if they decide to get stupid and tack on 50-100$ a month ill definatly walk… 20$ extra fine. BUT i dont think theyd care if i did walk…. Because there would be a lineup 6 miles long for this 5500 if i walked. So tough to actually make them sweat by walking i think. I dno

you dont walk. thats the whole thing. you change the calculus. get other dealers to make an offer on your trade two weeks out form when you truck gets there. Hell, Ill take a taxi to pick mine up. the purchase price is fixed in writing. The trade is the variable. Remove the variable.

Never negotiate on a monthly payment. Know what you are paying for the new truck and what you get for your trade in. Do the loan math separately. Trust me...these guys are trained to focus on that monthly payment and will get the most out of you they can by lengthening the loan terms.

Does anyone know if an ordered truck is tied to the customer? Or the dealership? Like could I go to the other dealerships in my area, and have my Ram transferred to them if they give me a higher trade value?

no its tied to the dealer. It comes out of their allotment. We sold my wife's mazda to an alfa romeo dealer for 2k more than the mazda dealer offered. We used it for 2 years and it cost of $700. That is why i say shop your trade. Some dealers need cars more than others. A Ford dealer may pay top dollar just to make 2k on the sale. They have to sell something to stay open. Used cars bring in more profit than new ones.

Its property of the dealership as the second it goes KZ they are invoiced for it. And its also tough not to negociate trade in value in relation to monthly payments etc as trade in is a huge tax break on the purchase price of the truck. Have to sell for alot more privately to gain that same value baxk. My brain literally hurts from numbers and stress about this truck just showing up and not getting bent over to bad
