Price negotiated from MSRP

New to the H/D forum. Looking at ordering a 23’ Ram 3500 SRW Mega limited Diesel to replace my 18’ Ford S/Dty 6.7 Diesel Crew SRW Plat. S/Box. Who has the “Best” discounts currently?? I dealt with Chapman this past March when I took delivery of my 22’ Ram Trx but see they only offer @ 3% off Inv. on a H/D.
I thought I saw somewhere dealers offering 11% off on custom orders?? Any info appreciated….
11% is probably off of MSRP, not invoice. I believe Granger and Mark Dodge are both doing between 3% and 4% under invoice on orders.

Question; who is offering 11% off sticker for a ordered truck….? Appreciate any info-

the two dealers that are the most active on here are Mark Dodge (Lake Charles, LA) [email protected] or Granger (Granger, IA) at [email protected]

build one online and send it to either/both dealers and go from there...won't cost anything other than 5 mins of your time to see what everyone is talking about

now that I think about it - Mark Dodge doesn't actually post much/at all on here...maybe they were active "in the beginning"...but my guess is that they have the majority of the forum business on here. helps that they are close to the Houston so it's just a short truck drive for the trucks to the dealer vs a train ride and then a truck ride to the dealer

Granger posts on here frequently and they are also offering Mopar warranties $50 over cost (4% under invoice is usually right at 11% off MSRP)

there have been a few other dealers that have tried their hand at matching Mark Dodge and Granger's deals, but they only stay around for a couple months before....well I guess their management decides to quit selling them so cheap....

if nothing else, use a quote from either MD or Granger to use as leverage....my local dealer laughed at me and said they couldn't sell one that cheap

Chapman I think had stopped offering price protection.....may want to check into that if you go that route

Nice, thank you for the details in one place.
I ordered mine from Koons and I know some more members from here did as well. Koons would be another potential option.

I can confirm Chapman is no longer offering price protection. I picked up my January order the beginning of the month and was hit with the price increase. I still got a great deal but was hit with about a $3200 increase.

That is surprising. From what I heard the dealer is invoiced the price at the time of order when the truck has been built, so one should pay exactly what the agreed price was at time of order.
Or am I missing something here?

here's a post that Granger actually made in the TRX forums...summary below

I wouldn't put it past some of the dealers to apply for price protection and then pocket the difference...I mean, why wouldn't they offer it?

What are they... lazy - uniformed - or greedy?

Any price increase that takes place from the Vehicle order date and the Invoice date to the dealer can be price protected.

A claim for price protection must meet the following criteria.
  • Signed and dated buyers order with customer information
  • Delivered to the customer it was ordered for
  • Delivered with 14 days of arriving at dealership
  • Delivered at the agreed upon price from the original buyers order.
  • A Deposit is not required but recommended as a best practice.
The Dealership has to go through an exception claims process. Your dealer may not be aware of this process, but in today's landscape it is more important than it was in the past. If you have a good relationship with your dealer and you signed a buyers order you should be in the clear on this.

Just picked up my 2022 3500 Longhorn Limited DRW for MSRP at time of order on May 11, 2022, $95,365. I have done the build and price several times since order and MSRP for the exact same truck is now $99,385. Packages broken apart and separate charges for those separated options. Dealer honored initial MSRP. With chip shortage, inflation, increased transportation (not to mention up coming train strike), increasing interest rates, and Fed doing everything they can to slam the brakes on the economy, means prices are going up for HD trucks. If anybody noticed there is now an option on the Ram site to order online with an option for home delivery if dealer selected. Prep for delivery???

“Delivered to the customer it was ordered for”

Im wondering if the dealerships that dont are hoping people walk away from their orders and they can now sell at >MSRP price.

They get penalized for sold orders not delivered to the buyer. Enough of those and they lose allocations for dealer stock orders.

Youd think it would behoove the dealership to lock in a price so the customer knows what to expect to pay then.

one would certainly think so...

just my opinion and I guess my circle is pretty small, but prior to 18 months ago I could probably count on one hand the number of people that I knew who ordered a vehicle...and now I've ordered and bought three in the past 8 months.

Sure there are some great dealerships out there, but the average dealership probably didn't even know that "price protection" was a thing a year ago. If someone did order a vehicle back in 2019, it wasn't a 2-3-4-6 month wait, it was 4-6 weeks and there weren't these huge base price increases to worry about.

I can understand how Randall Ram in Raleigh wouldn't possibly offer it - most of their fictional customers probably don't know it's even a thing either - but I don't have a good explanation why someone like Chapman, that was offering price protection, have since stopped...has to be something else to it, or are they just pocketing the additional "savings" that they could be passing on to the customer.

It doesn't make any sense that Chapman decided to pull that shady crap unless they're somehow pocketing the difference.

Any recommendations for dealerships in Florida doing < MSRP?
Is there any particular reason dealer has to be in Florida?

typically the other major dealers mentioned here make it worth your while to fly and drive back or get delivered if you so choose to and are still cheaper typically than a local dealer.

So I have been able to get about 6% below MSRP, and close enough to pick up. Feel pretty good about that but has anyone else recently done better?
What dealer did you use? I have a friend looking to order a 23 and doesn't want to order from the east coast and transport.

Anyone think this impeding recession is going to have prices tanking like in 2008?
