Oil Thread - 6.4 Hemi

That’s the filter, not the oil. I switched to wix xp, been happier.
 
Going to add some Lubeguard this upcoming oil change. I need to send off for an oil analysis. Just to check.
 
Decided to change mine before the road trip. I was at 18% oil life which is the furthest I’ve let it go so far. Actually posting this and I haven’t poured the oil in yet. Got it drained with a new filter on and a pop up storm is pounding us at the moment. I’ll pour the new fluids in when that passes over.

I just performed my second oil change running Valvoline Advanced/Euro 0W-40 - Previously they only listed MS-12633 spec, I see today that they also now have MS-A0921. It's substantially cheaper, especially if you're a fellow Midwesterner that has a Meijer nearby. List is $30 per 5 QT jug, they have a $10 instant rebate per $40 spent on Pennzoil product, PLUS $15 off $75 on your first 3 pickup orders/for new members... AND Valvoline is currently offering $5 cash back per 5 qt jug up to 6 total, they'll send payment within 5 days via paypal or venmo (or 8 weeks by check), valvolinecashback.com. That works out to $22.50 per oil change or ~$2.80 a quart. I used the 5038041AA SRT filter, picked one up open box off amazon for $10 (bought a second open box for my next oil change for $12.58). The price from Amazon can fluctuate drastically, I use 3rd party trackers to watch for open box deals and snag em when I can. Valvoline's cash back limit is 6, I went ahead and made a second purchase/order for 3 additional. I should be all set on oil for the next year or so!

It doesn't matter if the Valvoline jug is marked as Euro formula or Advanced (they changed it at one point and opted to change back/they're interchangeable), personally I really like not being forced to support this silly money-grab that Pennzoil and Chryco have... let us not for get that these engines went through development using 5W30 (wasn't an engineer caught saying that on a conference call years back?!).
 
They might have done that oil weight early on in development but now it's all PUP.
 
I did my oil change the other day, sent off a sample to Blackstone Labs to see what is going on with my oil. Added 21oz of LubeGard and then topped off with 0W40 Amsoil with the EA017 filter.

I went down to 15% on the oil life gauge on the EVIC. I did my first oil change at about 7200 miles (10% oil life) with what was originally in the truck off the dealer lot, and this is the 2nd oil change that was at 21500 miles. The oil still looked good.

Where did you find legitimate mechanics to take a look underneath? Certainly not at the dealer, you’ll be lucky if they change the oil correctly.

Just got mine back from the dealer today. Recalls, oil change just so that it’s their baby and they have it on file in case of warranty needed. Drove badly on the way home, 85+ psi in all four tires for safety no doubt, the TPMS was lit up when I dropped it off…
 
So question, for 2022+ it states in the manual you must use 0W-40 that meets MS-A0921, if you would use an oil that meets the previous spec for the 2021- can they deny any warranty claims?

I don't see how because when I look at the electronic owners manual for my 2020 it states the same but my hard copy still has the old spec. one thing is I have receipts for 3 cases of PUP 0w40 and it does not say anything on the receipts about the ms specs only that it is PUP and 0w40.

Do you feel lucky? I am going to do it just because I don't have the time or money to fight them, just switched to Schaeffers oil, better oil, meets the spec and the same price.
