Jesus people …I can barely run a iPad to check the weather and look at this forum! I maybe should check out the Classic Car forums or summthin
.
I have the Ravelco installed in my last three trucks, living in South Texas, the market is hot for theft. Like someone mentioned earlier
depending on the area I am parking my truck, I can easily step out and remove the plug , which gives me much confidence my truck
will be there when I get back. I do leave the plug in while parked at home (live out in the country). And as has been said before, the
disadvantage is while the plug is out, you will not be able to remote start. This was the first add on I did to my new truck once I drove
it down from Louisiana. Well worth the investment. Here is a pic I just took, it shows the plug removed laying on the floor board.

Absolutely true. If a crook wants something bad enough they’ll get it. No matter what system is created it will be defeated. So why over complicate stuff? Your point is well taken for sure…Plenty of cars back then stolen with a coat hanger and screwdriver.
I have been looking into some anti theft options in an effort to prevent this from happening to me again. I am requesting that my insurance pay to have the truck "rekeyed" per the suggestion of my friend who is the GM of the RAM dealership.
Additionally I am looking into the RAVELCO anti theft device and having this installed. Does anyone here have any experience with this device??
Appreciate everyone's condolences and the sharing of ideas. It's such a sad day in our country where these events have become so common place. Apparently it's not enough to work hard and pay (way to much) taxes. Now we have to work and pay to protect our property..
What relay/fuse would you pull to thwart a thief? I thought that would be a simpler solution than installing something like a Ravelco. I understand the cost of ~$850 for the device and then installation is far cheaper than replacing a stolen truck, but I still blanch at the cost. Pulling a fuse or relay when parking in unsafe areas seems reasonable to me. Kinda like the old days when yanking the old distributor/coil wire successfully disabled an engine.I spent a few summers working in Houston. Seems like the hotels were always getting hit. I would pull some relays out of the box.
Think it was fuel pump, ecm, ficm. It was a 2006 Ford a long time ago. Don't remember exactly. I like the idea of having it where the starter will crank but not fire. So maybe you can hear it.What relay/fuse would you pull to thwart a thief? I thought that would be a simpler solution than installing something like a Ravelco.
